Major Gore speech to attack Bush Sun./ Contact CSPAN to cover
Please e-mail/call CSPAN to get this major speech by Al Gore Jr. on Sunday in DC broadcast live. Gore is to attack Bush on his failed war on terrorism and for Bush's attacks on civil liberties. I think Al Gore is out there fighting against the repukes any way he can. Way to go, Big Guy!

Gore to address terrorism, civil
liberties November 9
9:16 AM PST
GNN News - - Former Vice
President Gore will give his third
major speech on the
Administration's response to
terrorism on Sunday, November
9th at the DAR Constitution Hall in
Washington D.C. Gore will
describe the Administration's
assault on our civil liberties as
un-American and will charge that the Bush/Ashcroft attack on the Constitution is actually a smokescreen that obscures the
Administration's fundamental failure to meaningfully protect our national security, and that their efforts have weakened rather than strengthened America.

This event is cosponsored by the American Constitution Society and Moveon.org.

3. Yes. Here is the info from their website.
<http://www.americanconstitutionsociety.org/>

Formed in Spring 2001, The American Constitution Society for Law and Policy is a national organization of law students, law professors, judges, practicing lawyers and others. Through campus and lawyer chapters, speaking and media programs, public education efforts, publications, and other activities, we seek to revitalize and transform the legal debate, from law school classrooms, to federal courtrooms, to the congressional hearing rooms where judicial nominations are weighed. We want to counter the dominant vision of American law today, a narrow conservative vision that lacks appropriate regard for the ways in which the law affects people's lives. We seek to restore the fundamental principles of respect for human dignity, protection of individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, and access to justice to their rightful -- and traditionally central -- place in American law. We want to strengthen the intellectual foundations of -- and the public case for -- a vision of the law in which these values are paramount, on such issues as: privacy; freedom of speech; federalism; antidiscrimination and affirmative action; gay rights; reproductive choice; disability rights; labor and consumer rights; protection of health, safety, and the environment; the criminal justice system; immigration; and international human rights.
We recognize the profound role that legal theory plays in shaping broader political debate and, ultimately, the daily lives of our citizens. Today, a conservative vision of law pervades?in academic scholarship, in judicial interpretation, in legislative action and Executive branch policies. The American Constitution Society aims to strengthen in American law a steadfast commitment to upholding the freedoms and the dignity of our people -- a commitment embodied by our Constitution and by the jurisprudence of such justices as John Marshall, Louis Brandeis, William Brennan, Potter Stewart, Thurgood Marshall, and Harry Blackmun.

8. No, I really believe Gore is siimply fighting bushies however he can.
He campaigned in Calif. and in Philly. He is making two more speeches this month for the American Democracy Project. I posted about those speeches in Activism.
He is trying to get a news outlet to try to even the playing field. He is trying to soften up bush for the Dem. presidential contender who ever it is.

13. It's not just the most boring channel on cable...
What would we do without C-Span?

If only even 1% of the US population would just spend some time and observe our political process in motion. Maybe they'd have some sort of a Clue.

14. I'm a C-SPAN Addict
I watch Washington Journal nearly every morning and I love C-SPAN... The only other political shows I can stomach enough to sit through are Hardball and Meet The Press, but even MTP is slanted because Russert absolutely hammers Dems when they're on.

16. Win a ticket to Gore's Sunday speech!!
From DNC Kicking Ass blog
<http://www.democrats.org/blog/>

Bush haiku contest

We have a pair of tickets to Al Gore's speech this Sunday at the Daughters of the American Revolution
building in Washington, DC.

So we're holding a contest to give them away. Here's how it works. If you'd like the tickets, compose a
haiku about George W. Bush. The haiku that best captures the essence of the George W. Bush presidency
while meeting Kicking Ass's high standards of poetic elegance will be declared the winner.

Here are the rules:

All haiku must be in the standard form: three lines of five syllables, seven syllables, and five syllables.
You may enter as many times as you like by posting your haiku in the comments section of this blog
post. We will accept entries for 24 hours after this is posted.
To be eligible, you must be over 18 and able to attend the speech in DC on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. You
will have to provide your own transportation, and must show ID at the event.
Employees of the DNC and their families are not eligible.
If you wish to submit a haiku but are unable to accept the prize, please indicate so in your post. We
will choose an "Honorable Mention" from among these entries to post along with the winner.
We will contact the winner at the email address associated with their Democrats.org account. Make
sure you can receive email at that address before entering. (You do not have to display your email on
the blog to win.)
A panel of celebrity* judges will make the decision as to the best haiku. Decisions of the judges are
final, absolute, and infallible.

So fire up your poetry engines and get started!

17. I kind of compare Gore to the Dixie Chicks
The flack they have all endured as a result of this administration. All I have to say regarding both of them is sometimes doing the right thing takes time to get noticed. I am glad they are all getting the recognition they deserve for speaking their concious rather than trying to be popular. With everyday that passes, all of the critics of this administration get more proof for the reasons they are correct in their criticisms.

Al Gore's "lies" that the media harped on during his campaign sure seem pale in comparison to the lies, death, destruction and damage brought on by this pResident.

18. Every time Gore speaks, people have to think that
he got more votes and should be in the White House. So when he says he would have handled the war on terrorism and the war on civil liberties differently, it has a greater impact.
