A) Would Bush do it? B) Would it work?

Seeing the numbers are falling fast for Bush, do you think that if he knew of an impending terorist attack he would allow it to happen, the thinking being it would rally Americans around him or would he stop it?

Would the attack have the desired effect, or would it casue people to ask what happened to the intelligence much sooner than in the case of 9/11?

My POV... I hope to Goddess he'd stop it. But I don't think he would, and if he didn't, I think the majority of American people would turn on him...

3 reasons

1 - Another attack would make him and his admin look bad
2 - Stopping an attack would make him and the PATRIOT act look good
3 - He is a bad president, but he is not that bad

He's going to CREATE a "terrorist attack" where he then STOPS it.

You know, like a kid who starts fires, calls the fire department, puts out the fire, and then gets patted on the back and called a hero?

I knew a kid that did exactly that in the University of Missouri Library. He was a rabid right-winger and a member of the KKK. He was doing work/study as a security guard. LOVED the uniform. Finally got busted after "finding" the third or fourth suspicious fire. His father worked in right-wing Missouri politics and was close to Kit Bond.

That's what George Bush is gonna do. Mark my words.

He is hiding the August '01 memo. If it proved he wasn't informed of an impending attack, wouldn't it have been released (or leaked) by now?

They have to keep the paranoia and fear up. Isn't the "Threat Level" still the same? They will probably raise it sometime before the election and then claim to have stopped something MAJOR!

I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. But they probably figure a 4-month gullibility gap for the public this go around, when the creature in the white house will get a popularity blip. So look out come next July-August.

If they are able to. America is a huge country, easy to infiltrate. A terrorist attack on an important target would be very easy, except that the terrorist mostly defeat themselves by a concentration on targets of high symbolic value.

If terrorist ever got smart/stupid, the whole world would be in trouble. By that I mean smart enough to really hurt us and stupid enough to do it. I don't mean nukes either.
