Wes Clark Op-Ed in Boston Globe today on Plan for War

A new course needed in Iraq
By Wesley Clark, 11/6/2003

MY 34 YEARS in the Army taught me to steel my spine, but not my heart, whenever I hear news of American casualties. On Tuesday I read about Sergeant Ernest Bucklew, who was headed home to attend his mother's funeral when his Chinook helicopter was shot out of the sky en route to Baghdad. Fifteen American soldiers died alongside him.

For the sake of every member of our armed forces, we need a plan to end the conflict in Iraq. Retreat is not an option. Withdrawal would be a disaster for America, a tragedy for Iraq, and a crisis for the world. It would destroy our credibility, give terrorists a new haven, and throw the Middle East into greater turmoil. No matter how difficult it will be, we need a "success strategy."

Success won't be easy, but only success can honor the sacrifice of our soldiers and allow the troops to come home. Success means that Iraq is strong enough to sustain itself without outside forces. Success means that representative government has taken root. Success means that Iraq's economy and civil society are healthy again.

Congress just gave the administration an $87 billion check to continue down the path that we're on. But President Bush still has no strategy to succeed. I do. Here's my "success strategy":

<snip>

Then it goes point by point.

2. This is the strategy we need for Iraq....
Fortunately for Clark that he is showing up on ABC, CNN and writing op-Eds. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't know he was running. The Rove memo has ordered the mediawhores to put Clark on ignore....which they have, literally.

They have decided that they are going to pick our candidate.....
Assh*les!

4. This is excellent
I like it alot. It's exactly what we need to do and covers all the bases without absolutely requiring another UN resolution. Good for Clark, this is going to help him an awful lot.

6. If this is a precursor
then the speech will be very well thought out.

10. One rumor is that he might win the nomination on today's speech.
That's what I have heard.

11. hmm...getting interesting
I'm just hoping its not overhyped. But if this is the stuff of his speech, then he will certainly have advanced his cause a lot.

7. clark is starting to gain momentum and attacks bush daily
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 11:36 AM by kodi
that he is not attacking other democratic candidates is tactically sound.

i would like clark to respond to zell miller's accusations that the democratic party is tettering on being irrelevant.

if he does he can delineate clearly his own beliefs on what the democratic party has to offer the country and hold them in relief against miller's claims that the democrats are losing the battle for the hearts and minds of americans.

by doing so he can attack the perceptions that the gop is stirring about the dems not addressing concerns to most americans.

i can find no candidate who has responded in detail to miller's charges and i think all of the candidaters should do so.

8. It's easy to see why they are putting him on "ignore"
As one of you pointed out, the gop and the whores like to contrast Bush's fucked up no policy with "this candidate or that has no solutions". They don't want to hear solutions. Clark is giving a solution. Maybe we should flood these cable outlets, etc. and say "hey, did you hear that Clark has a SOLUTION; could we hear it on your network, please???--or don't you go in for solutions??".

12. No Matter How Specific Clark Is Now
I've noticed the whores interupt him and say, "could you be MORE specific".

Honestly, it doesn't seem to matter WHAT he is saying on an issue...

At one point on Lou Dobbs Clark had to start spitting out NUMBERS to shut him up.

He supports Bush's war. And fully plans to contiue figting a war that never should have started, and a war we can not win.
