2. Code Pink 4 Peace .....women for peace
www.codepink4peace.org
CODEPINK is a women initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement that seeks positive social change through proactive, creative protest and non-violent direct action.

Rejecting the Bush Administration’s color-coded security alerts that are based on fear, CODEPINK is a feisty call for women and men to “wage peace.” In less than a year, CODEPINK has become a vibrant presence in the peace and social justice movement. Very visible and recognizable simply by wearing pink, CODEPINK has found a niche in the movement by addressing serious issues in a multitude of creative - and sometimes outrageous - ways, always bringing into play the sensibilities of respect, compassion and interconnectedness.

4. Good for them
Clever protests will get more media attention where a large one is not possible.

5. Thank you so MUCH!
I saw that, but from a distance, in another room, could only see the screen when the woman started raising her voice, and was being shown out. I didn't get a chance to hear what she said. She seemed totally determined to be heard, without being simply eccentric. People in the room looked as if they were listening intently to her, and discussing what she said.

That's WONDERFUL!

Do you remember when a Lady in Pink, Medea Benjamin, also of Global Exchange, made her way into a Senate committee hearing with Donald Rumsfeld, along with a couple of other people, and held up a LARGE banner as Rumsfeld was talking, and was shown out, as they called out, "Let the inspectors do their work," prior to the invasion of Iraq?

Very, very impressive. They have real courage and ingenuity.

at the Rumsfeld Senate meeting.

(I can't get the video. Don't know if it's just my computer)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(snip) Medea Benjamin: "I feel that my job as a public citizen is to keep improving on the democracy and make it a better and better place."
For that reason she interrupted President Bush during a recent visit to Stockton.
She got in by following the rules.
Medea Benjamin: "I called the Republican Party and for a ticket and they very generously gave me a ticket."
She slid into an armed services committee hearing in Washington.
Medea Benjamin: "Yes, Mr. Rumsfeld, I think we need weapons inspections not war. ... I got into the hearing of the armed services committee by getting there five hours early.
Certainly not pleasing the secretary of defense.
Donald Rumsfeld, U.S. Defense Secretary: "It struck me what a wonderful thing free speech is — but of course people like that are not able to go into Iraq and make demonstrations like that." (snip/...)
(They've BEEN to Iraq.)
6. That sucks, now they're completely discredited
As Saddam sympathizers. I thought Code Pink had there shit together with the whole pink slip thing at that hotel. Why destroy your credibility by calling for the reinstatement of Saddam. They should have just focused on getting our boys out of there
9. Small aside about a "Pink Lady"
One member joined a bunch of us DUers at the March rally in NY. She was a dynamite person and I hope she has also joined DU by now.
