Has Dean ever made a mistake in the campaign?
I am looking for Dean supporters to respond. Has Dean basically run a perfect campaign so far, not gone negative but just told the truth about the other candidates, and not made any mistakes of note?

2. of course
what candidate doesn't make mistakes. I'm never totally happy with his television appearances (but I think he is getting better) and in retrospect even though I understand what Dean meant on the confederate flag there are lots of Dems out there who have not paid attention and he probably should have phrased it differently. I also think he erred in not taking the fire workers union seriously and Kerry didn't--he got a very good union endorsement because of it.

On the whole even Dean detractors have to admit his campaign has been very well run.

3. Of Course He's Made Mistakes
The Tim Russet interview was not good.

The southern white comment was poorly made -- the reference to the confederate flag overshadowed the point he was making. But I still think the position he staked out will help him in the general election.

5. Plenty of mistakes
Like not setting up an office in SC. It's not a perfect campaign by any stretch.

But thanks for further demonstrating another of the myriad of misconceptions that the antiDean crowd spreads. And thanks for doing it in such a way that the antiDean crowd can actually participate and drive the point home!

4. Of course he's made mistakes.
And you know who the most vocal critics have been, Quinnox?

No ... it's not DUers who support other candidates.

It's the hundreds of people who post on the campaign blog, who pick up every little gaffe ... every too-tight collar ... every facial movement ... and offer suggestions about what he needs to do.

Read the blog sometime. You'll be surprised at how NOT blind Dean supporters really are. Your eyes will be opened fast.

12. So you are saying that Dean is a manufactured candidate?
That's what it sounsd like. I always felt that he had an authenticity problem.

6. Dean has made plenty of mistakes
and he has gone negative on other candidates. He claimed Wesley Clark was a Republican and said none of his opponents opposed the war, and he probably could have used better judgement in the Confederate flag remark.

Are these significant? Not to me. They are tempests in the proverbial teapot compared with what he has to offer the country and the world.

13. Dean and Mistakes
I think Dean has made some mistakes. He is living a charmed life, though. Each time he does misstep so many respond with even bigger mistakes that he looks good all over again. And, to his credit, he seems to be learning every time, while others sink into their self-made quagmire.

15. The flag comment was
certainly badly phrased. I heard a comment at the meet up last night that if he said the same thing but substituted "Dale Ernhardt" for "confederate flag," he would have made the same point but with no controversy.

I would be remiss to say that he has disappointed me a little in simply not apologozing for the way he characterized his idea. The idea was fine; it was the way he phrased it.
He is still my candidate though.
