1. This doesn't mean the candidates will attend.
They can skip them and I think they did last time around.

6. No one skipped the debates last time
There were three POTUS and one VPOTUS debates in 2000. Don't you remember how Al Gore "lost" them because of (sequentiallY) bad make-up, an audible sigh, and manic scary energy? According to the NYT.

9. They all went narrowly to Bush
They will be the swing states in the next election that hopefully the democratic nominee will end up winning. I don't know why they didn't pick states like Iowa, New Mexico or Oregon which went narrowly to Gore and will likely be in play in 2004, but these locations seem fine.

3. Watch Bush try and wiggle his way out of three debates
he will try to get by (if he debates at all) on two plus a VP debate. It is a pretty condensed schedule all four debates over a two week time period.

4. Darn it
I wish they'd hold one up here in the Pacific Northwest for once. Seattle or Portland would be perfect debate venues.

Bush will be releasing the list of questions and only Britt Hume can ask the questions.

Here is a sample round of questioning at the debates?

Mr. President isn't it true you are the best President of our or any other generation and that you went into Iraq for such great reasons and you are the most honest President we have ever had?

Question for the Dem nominee: Why are you even running for President? Diebold will be counting the votes you know?

10. * tried to squirm out last time
and proposed a debate on the Larry King Show. Gore had agreed to the standard debates and refused the Larry King deal. Then * tried to say that Gore was afraid to debate.

13. I'm so glad to see this
..because there was talk by "talking heads" months ago that with the late convention of the repukes, there might be only one debate. Thank god they are forcing this clown to show up three times.
