Howard Dean reminds me of the "Road Runner" in the Warner Bros. cartoons
And Kerry, Gephardt, Edwards, Kucinich, Clark, and Sharpton remind me of Wiley E. Coyote. Lieberman reminds me of Elmer Fudd

Just like the Road Runner, Dean seems to escape the explosive situations and the Wiley E. Coyotes -- Kerry, Gephardt, Edwards, Kucinich, Clark, and Sharpton -- are as perplexed at Dean's escape as they are at having the backlash -- losing more ground in the polls to Dean during the controversial flag flap -- come over them.

Dean definitely has tapped into something deep within his supporters to not only be able to survive his foibles but to flourish despite them. I think that this is because deep in his heart he really wants to heal America and has conveyed that well consistantly.

Another piece of your analogy: only children take that crap seriously.

3. nice analogy
Dean's really not much different from Kerry, Gep, Clark,
etc. but what he did do was to recognize early on a huge number
of dissatisfied Democrats like us who were against
invasion of Iraq, against huge deficit spending, etc.
and with some grace... used the Internet as
a way to bring us together...kinda like DU. He understands
that we the people have the strongest voice in his
campaign...not the DLC or DNC. It's smart politics and
he's smart to keep going with it.

I would think that some DUers would respect the way
he is speaking and how this campaign is being funded
and run.

8. I respect the way Dean
recognized the dissatisfaction of many Dems over Iraq, and his use of the Internet for campaigning. Both of these demonstrate his intelligence. However, that hasn't led me to "respect the way he is speaking". His speaking, IMO, stinks. I don't know why respecting the way his campaign is funded and run should lead to my respecting the way he talks when I disagree with most of what he is saying.

6. If the definition of insanity is...
...doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time, then Kerry should be getting a fitting for a nice, tight, reversed jacket real soon.

Later.

7. Dean's campaign
brought me out of the closet of fear. I didn't know about DU last year, and I was the only person I knew (personally) that did not believe what was coming from the res and his bunch (ok, I live in a conservative state) .. Dean and his supporters gave me a life line to reality.

I watched as one dem "leader" after the next fell in line with the war mission, the patriot act, tax cuts, etc etc, and felt heartsick, hopeless. This is the gift Dean has given many of us; an ability to trust and hope again. He is unique among all contenders in that aspect, and nothing can change that.
