Have any DU Dean supporters voted yet in Dean's poll?
I voted today to opt out of federal matching funds and here is what I put in the comments

We supporters of Gov. Howard Dean, M.D. are the public, and we are funding the Dean for America Campaign. Howard Dean is following the spirit of the campaign finance reform law, and George W. Bush is bulldozing his way over the intent of campaign finance reform so that he and his fellow corrupt plutocrats can continue looting the public Treasury and destroy our Democracy.

Thomas Jefferson said that every generation needs a new revolution. This vote on matching funds and the 2004 Election are our generation’s revolution against the monied interests, the same kind that our Founding Fathers and Mothers rebelled against in the American Revolution.

With my vote, I declare that the Dean for America Campaign should forgo federal matching funds so that we can have a fighting chance to unseat the worse President in the history of the United States, George W. Bush.

Voted opt out, donated, and pledged to donate some more. $19 million is nothing. We can make that up in a quarter.

I voted to opt out. Dean has the SEIU endorsement, and the money machine is now becoming VIRTUALLY unlimited.

In an ideal world, running for President wouldn't consist of who can buy the most 30 second spots on TV to bash your opponent. People would actually read about a candidate and his positions.

This is a no brainer and of course Dean/Trippi is handling it superbly.

We say "opt out" and he says "send money". That is fine with me, if I were king there would be a campaign donation limit of $100 for everybody and only individuals could donate :)

52. Yes and here's the pledge Dean has signed

Gov. Howard Dean, M.D. recently signed this campaign finance reform pledge, offered by a coalition of campaign finance reform groups including Common Cause, Democracy 21, League of Women Voters, and Public Citizen:

Candidate Pledge to Reduce the Role of
Special Interest Money in Presidential Elections

Preamble

I recognize that the most effective means for preserving the integrity of our electoral process, reducing undue special interest influence over officeholders, and creating a fair playing field for qualified candidates is public financing of elections. I also recognize that the soft money ban enacted in 2002 is an essential prerequisite to having an effective and meaningful presidential public financing system and that now we must repair this system. Public financing for candidates seeking the office of the Presidency has been a landmark system for our democracy since the Watergate scandals, and it is vital that we restore this system for the future.

Pledge

I pledge to preserve the integrity of Presidential elections and the office of the Presidency by making reform of the presidential financing system a priority for my Administration and by working to promptly enact legislation that would:

- Provide qualified candidates with the public funding necessary to wage meaningful and competitive campaigns without having to rely on wealthy contributors.

- Allow candidates to focus more time on communicating with voters by providing qualified candidates with public financing much earlier in the election season.

- Supply additional public funds to match excessive spending by non-participating candidates.

- Promote full participation by presidential candidates in the public financing system by appreciably increasing funding for an expanded program.

- Require a candidate at the outset either to opt in or out of the entire public financing system for both the primary and general elections.

I agree that by restoring the presidential financing system, we will help ensure that those seeking the Presidency are free from the constraints of special interest funding. In our democracy, no candidate who seeks to represent all Americans should have to depend on wealthy contributors to be elected President.

Dean is the ultimate campaign finance reform candidate, with an average contribution of $80. Dean is not raising $200 million at $2000 a pop from the wealthy and corporate donors. His goal is $100 each from 2 million citizens.

He should opt out of the federal limits and go for it. He has almost raised the maximum allowed already. Otherwise, and very signficantly, he'll have very little money to spend after the primary when Bush will be going into high gear with his war chest, out of which he won't have taken a dime before the primary. Dean has the most extensive on-the-ground statewide organization of any candidate, and it cannot all be run by volunteers. Not to mention travel and TV ads that need to be financed.

Bush has big bucks, and we will need them too, in order to defeat him. Dean should opt out, and go for broke!
