Martha Stewart/Resented by Corporate Moguls because she Did it on her Own!
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 03:42 PM by KoKo01
CNBC had an interview with Michael Wolf about his new book, "Autumn of the Moguls," and the part I saw focused on Martha and showed clips of her tearful in an interview with Barbara Walters. I was about to turn it off because it's disgusting to see CNBC trashing Stewart, when Wolf says: "Martha built her business and did it all her way, and this caused resentment among the Big Players because she "didn't play the game the way it's supposed to be played."

That comment alone (not the exact quote, but pretty close) made me glad I stayed to listen. His comments were that the other CEO's were resentful of a "woman" who could do this and be good at it.

Showing her tearful interview was revolting, and using her as an example for the book was worse. However Wolf did get a good dig in with the interview.

Martha as an example of Corporate Greed and Crookery would be a hoot if we didn't live in such hypocritical times. Martha's Empire pales in comparison to Lay and Koslowski. But, then, their view of Women seems to be the prevailing one in the higher levels of power today.

Here's a link to Amazon review of the book if anyone is interested. It might be an interesting read:

1. The mediawhores used her as a scapegoat..

All of the corporate corruption was becoming revealed to the public and they needed a scapegoat so people would say "See it's just Martha Stewert, lets put all of our money back in the market"

It really is that simple.

2. Her big mistake was being a contributor to Democratic campaigns...
Had she given some big bucks to * and his cronies she wouldn't be having these problems.

4. The quality of some of her products weren't too good, but other than
that, and her personality which could be grating to some of us, she did make her money on her own and build it from scratch. She should have been able to play with the big boys.
