Army denies Private Lynch shooting (re-release ITV link)

An official US Army report due out shortly is expected to knock down much of the myth over a young woman soldier who was captured in Iraq.

For many Americans - and Hollywood - the tale of photogenic 19-year-old Private Jessica Lynch, and her rescue by US special forces, has come to symbolise heroism in the war.

But the US Army report is expected to reject claims she was shot and stabbed during a fierce gunbattle before her capture.

It is believed to say she instead sustained "horrific injuries" in a crash trying to escape the ambush - and that Iraqi doctors saved her life.

"Lynch survived principally because of the medical attention she received from the Iraqis," according to one US official.

Picked up on this when it came up as new news in Google. It's a re-post from July, but interesting that it comes back up now.

You'd think they'd have thrown that into their initial (and blatantly false) first media release.

She does not remember a rape, it's all from medical reports and if it were a brutal anal rape, I would think that it would have been in the Iraqi medical reports and not "discovered" at Walter Reed where she was held for nearly 4 months.

I hope to god (for her sake) that the rape information is inaccurate or bogus.

I am skeptical of the rape story, but the fact that the Army report doesn't mention it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

maybe the stabbing was by a penis, and could the shootng be a money shot....this is crude I know but the spin will work to the whatever patriot fervor will allow...more that likely we wont get to see the army's real report as it will probably be designated "classified".
