God I hate Bush so much right now .....
My husband and I were worried this might happen..now it looks like its happening..one son out, one stepson now to worry about..

4. My son is out, thanks to you all...but my stepson is going
I had a feeling he would be called up...MP, Army Reserves...when I saw that Troop Rotation by Rummy on TV....he was just at his Units weekend duty and they said...you are heading out in January...and the scuttlebutt is IRAQ..
so here I go again..but this time he will be harder to get out...because he is signed up in the Reserves for a few more years..
wish me luck

5. I'm sorry this is happening to you again, Mari

My stepson (he's a Marine) is scheduled to go in February. He told his father a few weeks ago; I only found out yesterday...my husband said they didn't want to tell me because they knew I'd be upset.:-(

6. is he likely to opt for leaving the country?
Godspeed and good luck, if so. The f*cking rat-bastard Bushistas won't rest until they're left a trail of blood around the world. Somewhere in Texas there is an obstetrician who had the opportunity to strangle that little turd at birth....

10. YOU ARE WRONG
Bush was not born in Texas. He is not a Texan. Repeat after me. Somewhere in Connecticut there is an obstetrician who had the opportunity to strangle that little turd at birth..........

Sorry, it's just that I take being a Texan very seriously and he is not our fuck up.

14. I know he grew up in Connecticut ...
... and I've always wondered who sold him that Texas accent. Oh, well; it's a thought I probably won't take to the grave.

7. Somebody had a link to CO stuff the other day

I'm sorry I didn't bookmark it, but if there is an American Friends Service Community in your area, they can help hook him up.

And Canada loves young people! :)

12. Mari? Why are all your kids in the military? Or at least these two.
Were there no other options?

13. They weighed their options ...
... and thought they were doing the right thing at the time. But that was before the Emperor resolved to conquer the world. Both sons enlisted with good intentions and Mari and I attended their graduations in Georgia and Missouri.

They signed up for an opportunity that did not feature at the time a lower primate leading the country with "dead or alive" rhetoric.

In my whole damned life, I've never hated nor wished ill will on another person (my memory may be selective, now), but my hatred for George Bush is simmering, and if I were to wake up in the morning to learn that he'd choked to death on a pretzel, that would be all right.

16. very good question
I would like to hear the answer.

Sorry--but sobbing about your kid being called up for duty when he signed up for duty seems a little absurd.

Oh, and protect the country rhetoric is just dumb, are we under threat from canadians or mexicans, if so I missed it! This country has NEVER faced direct danger, the closest was WW2, and we took a backseat to that ride for a long long time.

The rest of our wars have been a product of politicians and democratic desire, I would think before one signs up for the armed service, they should have an idea of what they may be used for, and it would seem your son assumed liablitity and risk.

I hope nothing happens to your son, and I wish him the absolute best, but why sign up in the first place? At some point it seems forseeable that he would be used to fight an immoral or questionable war. Even Clinton fought those ex. Yugoslavia. The USA uses its military without much forethought, and seems to make a mess and never a solution.

Good luck to your son. Discharge is always an option, and if it were me, I would chop off one of my fingers before I served as an instrument of war for Halliburton.
