George Bush Flunks Education

According to the Washington Post, the honors showered on the Houston School District may been based on fuzzy math.

About a year or two ago, a New Mexico school teacher asked me to investigate corruption in her school district, Los Lunas. Like so many school districts, it was tyrannized by school officials who aren't that different from Republicans. I discovered that the superintendent - who some called a Nazi - was married to a U.S. Attorney General who had been drafted into the war against terrorism.

But the best surprise of all was the discovery of a photo of the superintendent posing with a visitor - George W. Bush!

Unfortunately, it isn't online right now, as my website is in the midst of a revision. But it was a dynamite catch. Democrats should make education a big issue in 2004, but they have a lot to make up for themselves. They should be waging war against derelict teachers unions. (Notice how nicely George Bush and teachers unions get along?)
