Tune in and hear what people are saying. So far the south sounds pretty solid behind Dean.

2. I still say that the DEMs need to solve the AMERICAN flag problem
in the South.

Southerner wave Old Glory 1000:1 over the Confederate flag and widely believe liberals to be unpatriotic.

THAT is the Democratic challenge in the South.

3. They lie about the lack of liberal patriotism and you amplify that.
You are a challenge.

5. If the message is unpleasant...
kill the messenger.

It's much easier than thinking.

Leftofthedial raises a very key point--that the Republicans have succeeded in convincing many millions of voters that they have the monopoly on patriotism while Democrats hate America.

So how do we counter that? Simply accusing anyone who brings it up of amplifying GOP propaganda does nothing to solve the problem.

9. So you think we don't project a love of country in our appeals?
Bull. Stand up for your party. We have always represented the best of patriotism. I don't concede that we have done anything wrong. I hear the talk of wooing white males into the party and I feel that my views will be shown the back seat to accomodate someone who has never stood and fought for the issues and concerns of our core constituency. That core and their concerns matter more than the misrepresentation of our patriotism that is represented in the rhetoric of the southern right.

Are they right? Do you believe that the Democrats aren't patriots?

I am a liberal patriot. I will not be satisfied to have my concerns homoginized out of focus or marginalized into obscurity in a reckless troll for votes.

4. "Democrats are all about Satan, Republicans are all about God"
says one caller.

Sobering observation. How can we fight that kind of non-thinking?

6. you don't have to
Most people see that as a retarded statement. That caller did more harm than good for conservatives.

7. Repig sound-bites...
Repigs have organizations that stretch from earth to mars. They are all positioned to call tv/radio media with sound-bites. There are people organized in church basements 24/7, ready to make these types of attacks against anyone who speaks against little man bushie or against any repig. These hateful calls can come from anywhere in the country and not necessarily from the south.

It reminds me, Saddam was a coward for hiding in Mosques, daycares and hospitals.
