Interesting coincidence on AMC today
On my local version of American Movie Classics, they are showing an old war movie starring guess who? Why, none other than that paragon of virtue, Ronald Reagan. I am shocked at the timing of this airing, as I am certain that AMC would not try to paste his (and Nancy's) faces on the screen just to remind people of what a war hero and all around good guy Reagan was, as opposed to that politically motivated and liberal slanted CBS presentation that was just cancelled. Sarcasm off:evilfrown:

one looks ... of course, with current FCC czar stooge, Michael Powell ... everything can be changed at a drop of the hat ...

I saw a blurb that GE/NBC may have a stake in ownership, along with Rainbow Media, which is part of Cablevision Systems Corporation

3. NO! Hell, no, he didn't!!!
But he thinks he did because he acted the part of a soldier in military propoganda films (shot during the war); he did, though, wear uniforms when he made the films.

4. Well last week they showed "They Live" and if that is not a shot at
this entire administration (especially Rumsfeld) then I don't know what is. Maybe they are just showing a movie that many people consider an American Movie Classic.

5. not that i'm any fan of reagan's
but what has he really done in the past ten years to deserve all this continued vitriol? I can understand disliking Michael Homophobe Reagan, because he's a smug prick. But it's not like Ronald Reagan got the movie moved over to Showtime, it was the "cries like a bitch with a skinned knee" (to quote Jay from Dogma) Right who put the breaks on this thing. I imagine a bunch of the people who continue to talk poorly of Reagan are pissed whenever the lunatic right brings up Clinton. Neither is correct, leave Reagan alone, focus your hatred on Bush and his ilk.

6. Who cares what he did in the last 10 years
it's the stuff he did durring his presidency that is the problem, and why so many here are sickened by him.

7. okay, fine
then you concede the right, who were sickened by what Clinton did in his presidency, is correct in constantly bashing him. Not that I believe that Clinton did anything truly wrong, but all this "what he did" shit is relative, and the right then is correct for constantly bringing up Clinton's transgressions.

8. Nothing hateful intended, just an observation, but since
you brought it up, I think that this is the same type of 'coincidence' that brought us 2 weeks of Ahhhnold reruns immediately prior to the California recall vote. Again, just an observation on my part.

10. not responding to your post actually
but responding to the more virtiolic posts about Reagan I've been seeing. The man hasn't been in a good state of mind since I was in kindergarten, let him go away peacefully, and let's focus our collective dislike of republicans on trying to oust this illegitimate president.

12. I appreciate your candor, and understand
your position. The post was not intended to be flame bait. The only reason I even brought it up was because of the seeming coincidental timing. Some of the others have a point though, in stating that his past performance is reason enough to thoroughly dislike the man and what he stands for. I remember the economic environment during his presidency and it was bloody awful! I had friends who were so frightened of it getting even worse that they bought houses at 18% on a first mortgage (up to 25% on a second). Many of them ended up losing those homes ultimately. Also, the Reductions in Force (RIFs) affected a number of very well qualified and well trained government employees, whose pensions and heathcare coevrage are now in danger from the swine in the WH now. My father was one of Reagans RIFs, so I do have something of a personal axe to grind.

13. yes, i understand, but
let's be real, this guy was about as in charge of what was going on as Ford. The only difference in the Reagan administration was that Bush and his dickhead friends were pulling the strings, while Kissenger ran the show after Nixon resigned.

14. I don't deny that Reagan was out of it, and further that
he was used by * and Kissinger. I would expect nothing less from that ilk. The fact remains, however, that Reagan was president, and was/is accountable for his adminstration. One of the things that gets my goat, frankly, is the unending whining from Michael reagan about the USS Ronald Reagan and the constant soliciting of funds for the decoration of same. Geez, for a guy who didn't have a very good relationship with his father, he sure jumped on the gravy train quickly. I'm tired of hypocrisy and distortions. How about a compromise on this. I will concede that he is ill and has no idea of what is going on in the world, but I will also state that that condition, insofar as he is concerned, is nothing new.

18. it's not as simple as filing him under R, and taking out the B file ...
... he lives daily in our lives ... and the Republicans won't let us forget it ... I figure "Ronald Reagan" will be with me until my dying day ... not because any obsession on my part ... it's on their part ... his rhetoric and policies won't leave us alone ...

why waste time commenting when there are other fish to fry, eh?
