which ended with John Simpson's entourage being bombed by the Americans. Right at the time of the bombing, the cameras were either cut off or the part was edited. When they were turned back on, the camera lense was spotted with blood, a translator was killed, many wounded and bleeding. Much of the film footage was considered too gory for TV, so they had to edit it severely, a pity, since the world should not get a sanitized version of war, and what tax dollars are paying for.

1. The camera man, Fred Scott,
won the Rory Peck 'hard news' award here last week.

Was the documentary you just watched the one that features two cameramen covering the war? (If not, BBC World must be advance airing tomorrow's Panorama)

Channel 4 also used the uncut footage for a documentary a few months back (called something like "Unreported War") which sadly had to be aired after 11pm mainly due to the graphic content of much of the footage. Again a shame, because as you say, we get a far too sanitized version of war.
