2. It looks like you gave it some kind of "turkey" award...
...so it must be pretty bad.

Maybe if we email them enough saying we wanna see it too they'll put it on their website. Then people can download it and use pieces of it in satire like the stuff you see on /Take Back the Media/ by Symbolman.

5. Yep that is the one, they are touting how they support the troops
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 11:10 PM by liberalnproud
When the troops need something Halliburton is there. The commercial ends with a GI talking on the phone (call provided by Halliburton) and the guy breaks up while stating "It's a girl." Tears starting to roll down his cheeks.

They have NO shame.

On Edit- My turkey is for Turkey Day. I love the Holidays this is my favorite time of the year. Halloween, Thanksgiving, the the biggie Christmas.

13. heh, I just though of a good Haliburton slogan
"When the troops need something, Haliburton is there.

I mean, because, think about it. Who else could be there? We got a no-bid deal that gives us exclusive rights to all action in Iraq. So, who else possibly could be there? "

23. Oh, THIS will backfire bigtime
There are far too many parents and wives and husbands and friends who have had to SEND bare necessities to their loved ones over there. Far too many Letters to the Editor from troops who've been suffering with ONE MRE a day and 2 liters of water, even during the 120 degree heat of the summer.

And then there was the suddenly outrageous phone bills (which Halliburton probably had nothing to do with, but who cares if they get tarred with that feather too).

Goood, goooood. Oh yeah, I love this.

I can't WAIT for the families to get drift of this.

18. This will backfire on them BIGTIME!
They may have gotten away with it a few months ago, but the thing that will go through most people's minds now is,

"Hmmmmmm, it's November 9th, and that guy's been deployed since February. No wonder he's crying."

20. In the book, Naked in Baghdad
Anne Garrells (not sure on the last name) She's a correspondent for NPR and an author who read parts of her book on c-span tonight.

She writes about how bad security is in Baghdad. She said that Bechtel, Hal's evil cousin, doesn't think it's safe enough to send anyone out to inspect schools being rebuilt. She said they don't know the quality of the work or if the right schools are even being worked on, so they can't know how "their money" is really being spent on.

Their money....

24. Hokiest thing I ever saw.
I mean it really looked like a spoof commercial you'd see in a movie or something.

You know it really isn't helping their cause, given all the bad publicity they're getting. It just makes people curious as to who or what Haliburton is in the first place.

25. No, but I did see a very creepy Wal-mart spot
with an ancient WWII veteran sitting in a chair, reminiscing about the war, and some elderly Wal-mart employees saying things I missed because I was too busy going, "Holy crap, it's a Wal-mart commercial." Back to the first guy, saying he'd do it again, then we see he's sitting alone in a house on the hill. I guess he's lonely because all his friends work at Wal-mart.

Because it isn't his kid. The baby was born in November, he's been away since January, do the math! Thanks Haliburton!
