OOPS- California Dems
This can't help Davis very much:

http://www.free-market.net/cgi/redir.cgi?http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20030722-110359-3967r.htm

"Unaware that a live microphone was broadcasting their words around the Capitol, Assembly Democrats meeting behind closed doors debated prolonging California's budget crisis for political gain." (7/23/03)

2. I'm shocked!
"Assembly Republican Leader Dave Cox said he was disappointed that Democrats would consider using the budget crisis to their political advantage."

Shocked that Cox wasnt struck by lightning for his
cosmic hypocrisy. Repubes for months have used the
budget crisis on Gray like muggers with a cudgel.

4. Unaware that a (Republican planted) bug was broadcasting?
How convenient. Dems hopefully will raise hell and call a spade a spade that the mike was probably planted. Lets talk about using events such as WAR and other things for political gain. We indeed have a budget crisis. OF COURSE WE ARE GOING TO PROMOTE IT BECAUSE IT IS TRUE.

This was typical Republicans implementing their MORAL agenda.

5. I am a political realist
but I think this sucks. You should not play politics with peoples' livelyhood.

7. NOTHING wrong with this at all.
It's the GOP that holding the state hostage. They're threatening to commit political suicide and take the state with them.

What exactly would our self-styled moralists do?

8. yeah, what's the big deal?
the republicons are engaging in blackmail, and the dems need to frankly assess the costs and/or benefits of resistance.

10. It was barely a blip on the news yesterday
The general population isn't Dem haters here. I'm still not worried about the recall...the Repubs in California are the most disorganized group of Repubs anywhere.

11. This sounds like a Republican spin.
The Cal Dems don't have any more of a choice on this crisis than any other state. Less, because they were the victims of energy fraud.
