Tom Delay's New Opponent
www.richardmorrisonfordistrict22.com/index.html

I’m challenging Tom DeLay to be the U.S. Representative for House District 22 – and I need your help. My opponent is the most powerful man in Washington D.C., in large part because he is being bankrolled by partisan special interests.

I hope you will join me in standing up for ordinary Texans against those who think they can buy the U.S. House of Representatives.

13. Beautiful family, I just gave him 20 dollars....

I am running to be District 22’s representative in the US Congress. The first step in the process is winning the Democratic nomination in the primary.

Anyone who runs against Tom Delay gets 20 bucks to start..... lol.

6. It was really hard to find, but I think I found the answer here
Please join me in defeating the slick special interests who think they can hoodwink us into letting them rubber stamp their agenda and line their own pockets.

I will stand up and fight for District 22 to protect our families and homes. With my conservative, common sense approach I will work hard to:

· solve the transportation problem that threatens to choke off growth and endanger the quality of life in the district;
· invest in public schools to ensure all children a first-rate education;
· oppose the GOP’s “tax-cuts for the wealthy now, our children will pay later” deficits; and
· support economic development and job creation in the district.

10. How do you mean, Conservative? This is a pretty progressive
site and we don't often see people spouting the mantra of being a conservative, as you do on your website. I had offered to donate to your compaign but if you are conservative, I need to know exactly what you mean by that term, before I donate. Conservative to me means Tom Delay and his ilk. I would never give one red cent to that type of conservative. Please inform us.

11. I am not Morrison.
Edited on Thu Nov-13-03 01:13 AM by WatchWhatISay
A friend of mine just emailed me this news and I passed it on. In 2002 I supported someone else who ran against DeLay, but he didnt do very well since he didnt have much of a campaign except on the internet. But this guy says on his website that this will be an uphill battle. I'm sure Delay is able to bring home plenty of pork for his district. And Im sure he has drawn the district lines where there is little chance of anybody but a conservative beating him. In fact in the last redistricting fiasco, he actually gave up some of his district to help another conservative increase the percentage of conservatives in his district.

On this guys website he shows himself to be pretty conservative, but vows not to be in the pocket of special interests. Is that true? Who knows at this point?

16. I don't care if he's a flaming right-wing nutcase
If he can beat Delay, and he'll vote for a Democratic leader.....

he's got my support against the exterminator.

17. Well, I'm totally confused! You're not Morrison and thus are ...
not running against Delay? You were just posting Morrison's website? Thanks for any clarification and I'm sorry to be so flummoxed.

4. If you beat this guy, I will worship you...
Get people to take your campaign seriously.

1) Tom DeLay reminds me of Newt Gingrich, he's powerful but people don't really like him that much.

2) I think your district had never been won by a Republican until Tom DeLay ran there. You do have a chance.

This is why he pushed the lackey Hastert onto the stage from out of nowhere.

12. I think the district was new in '82
The area west of Houston is pretty solid Bush country: suburban, bedroom communities built on top of former ranches & cotton fields, all concrete with little grass trims. I was a campaign volunteer for Doug Somethingortheother when Delay first got elected in 1982. The seat was redrawn that year and was either brand new or was Ron Paul's old seat (Ron Paul lost the senate primary to Phil Gramm that year).

All the districts in Texas have been rejiggered to make DeLay safe and the Democrats thin. I'm sure in the 2003 districting reshuffle DeLay only got safer. It will be tough to impossible to beat him, but it'll be a good thing to at least tie him down with campaigning next year.

Poor Richard Morrison, however. Tom DeLay has a bad habit of bringing lawsuits against his Democratic opponents after he's beaten them. He's just pure mean.

18. One more time people....
WatchWhatISay is not this guy (Morrison) running against DeLay. She snipped the "I’m challenging Tom DeLay to be the U.S. Representative for House District 22" from his website, which she referenced right above the quote. She is only the messenger passing this information on to us.
