HELP! Bush again threatens to veto overtime pay protections
I just cannot believe this mis-administrations total disregard for the general public. Reminds me of the Clinton impeachment polls where the vast majority polled were against impeachment yet on they went. I am not a union member, but I have worked in the computer industry where the OT exemptions were twisted from their original intent to cover assembly workers on the manufacturing line.
While I do believe the FSLA needs updating, the proposed changes are way too favorable to corporations.

Here's a decent article on his latest veto threat which has links to a couple of other articles attached.
http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/1103/110503cdpm1.htm

John Kerry had this on his site back in March, but I don't see anything regarding this veto threat on his site now....

Several organizations, including moveon had a letter writing campaigns on the first couple of rounds, but I haven't seen anything from them recently, although Bush's veto threat came fairly recently. Only one I can find so far is at unionvoice.org

Has anyone else been following this more closely? I can't seem to tell if what Bush wants has had any decent changes or if the same thing that had everyone's undies in a bind. EPI had this front and center at one time -seems they're been having server problems.

Has this dropped from the Radar or has it suddenly been fixed?

Sorry so long, I'm confused.

1. The Bush Administration does not live in Reality

They live in a world of agenda driven ideology. Fueld by extreme religious fervour and a cynical world view of other nations.

They also live in a world where cronyism and the "country club" mentallity reigns.

They lvie in a reality where they see themselves as hand-picked by god, giving them the authrity to do anything. A place were will wins over logic.

They live in another reality.

5. The bush administration is mostly wealthy neocons, they can't and don't
identify with the average American worker. But they have done a super job in convincing the average American worker otherwise. and the Dems have let them...from 9/11, Iraq invasion, to the economy. The Republicans have been able to bamboozle the public by waving Rush Limbaugh wrapped up in the American flag.

2. I've been following this
story because it directly affects my family. They are basically taking the side of big business and screwing a large portion of middle income folks. Democrats need to hammer this issue home. They need to make it clear that a vote for Repugs is a vote to eliminate the middle class. That is what this is really all about.

4. I've written several letters, our Repug
rep keeps sending back a form letter just reguritating Shrub's stand on everything. The letters always end with an insinuation of being unpatriotic. These people are SICK.

I get them from my rep. I get snotty-toned ones back from Frist, and the standard, GOP talking point type back from "plaid-shirt", but I keep sending them anyway!

6. Thanks, hard to think it will do much good as this is the 2nd or 3rd
time that there has been a letter writing campaign. But I will do it again. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

10. It surprises me they are trying this again
I think if this passes it will really hurt bush. Many people who usually pay no attention to politics will be affected. It seems to me that they would notice that their paychecks have decreased and would want to vote the bastard out.
