DU'ers... What we can do to help rid DC of Republicans
I was talking to my Dad this morning and is he ticked off. He’s 57, a Republican and was laid off his Daimler Chrysler management position two months ago, and being in upstate New York, has NO decent opportunities for employment in his field. He was ripping about the Senators screwing around with “this judge crap” instead of doing stuff for regular people. This got me to thinking... he can’t be the only one.

I live in NY, both of my Senators are Democrats (yeah Hill and Chuck!). My Congressman is Democrat, but I live on the cut off to the neighboring district which has a Republican Congressman, so I can nail him without a problem.

For all DU’ers that have a Republican Senator or are represented by a Republican Congressperson, we ought to start a letter writing campaign. From now until next November, write letters to the editor of your local papers and complain about the Senate preferring to argue for 30 hours about 4 judges who didn’t get nominated instead of passing legislation that could create 800,000 jobs (The 6 year Highway Program), extending unemployment benefits, funding the VA and HUD, passing manufacturing tax breaks to create more jobs, etc. Remind the readers as often as possible how their Senator(s) put their well being aside for their party’s sake. Remind them that their Republican Congressperson didn’t stand up and say this wasn’t right. Keep pointing out that getting 4 judges appointed were more important than medicare, prescriptions for seniors, etc.

There are over 34,000 of us registered on DU If only 1/10 of the registered users would pick up a pen, or send an e-mail that would be 68 people per state to write letters. That would be 68 letters a month to the papers pointing out the ridiculousness of the Republicans and their disinterest in helping out regular folks. I mentioned in a posting a while ago that while removing Bush IS important, getting back control of the Senate and Congress should be a main priority as well. Maybe by pointing out that our elected politicians on the Republican side, over and over, not only my Dad will be the only one ticked off, and willing to vote them out.

In other words, do what I love to do most, hang them with their own rope…

1. Excellent suggestion, and let's use Newt's language guide...

Link here to Gingrich's memo re: the power of language and how it should be used against Liberals...let's aim this sucker in the other direction.

2. First of all, when anyone mentions this
make sure you get out the numbers 168-4 or 97.7% The senate has confirmed 168 judges that bush has proposed, and has blocked only 4. That means bush has a 97.7% sucess rate, that figure really shows this stunt for what it is, a tantrum...
