Judge Roy Moore will be the new "martyr" of the right wing...
He will be on every talk radio station. He will write a book. He may run for Governor of Alabama. He is their new hero that has been badly treated by the liberal judicial system. Because that is what the 30 hour debate was about, they will say.

No doubt he will be a main subject on the new Rush Limbaugh show this Monday. Just because he wanted the ten Commandments near his courtroom, even though the law had requested he remove it. He ignored the law.

1. he will be forgotten, be relegated to footnotes...
... and subsequently drink himself to death while fondling his precious monument.

2. Naw, his last name will never be verbed as was Robert Bork's
Moore will be just a little footnote in history.

4. Just better hope he doesn't wind up involved w/ the board of ed.
lobbying to get prayer back in schools, or his replicas of his precious monument in the lobby of every publich school. He is now a loose cannon (canon?) and bears watching.

I'm sure the RW views this as the throwing down of the gauntlet.

6. Moore is also a poster boy for looney right wing judges everywhere.
If the Dems were smart, they'd figure out a way to use him to make Americans aware of what the Repubs are trying to shove down our throats with their judicial coup.

7. And his argument against raising taxes for the rich to help the poor will
be which commandment??? of the 10...or is there an 11th that only Moore knows about...Placing the commandments in all public spheres is God's commandment as is making the rich richer and the poor poorer??? How can he run against an already religious reight wing wacko?

8. I checked on the Freeper response.
They seem to be split between fundies who support him and those who (gasp!) support the rule of law.

Perhaps there's a little ray of hope. It might have something to do with fundamentalism requiring the donation of a hefty part of members' incomes. :-)

9. Don't scoff.
There is a certain mindset that will see Moore "as just the sort of man we need to bring God back into our government." They will compare him with Christ as being persecuted and crucified for his beliefs.

Moore will get more political mileage out of this than any of us think possible!

11. Yea, and it might fly in the bible belt
But I think the reich wing needs to be careful what flag pole they try to run this up. It could seriously backfire nationwide and in some locales...which I would love to see.

I mean, these people ought to take a good long look at the kind of affection the average joe shows for Jehovah's Witnesses. Coersively religious people are only tolerated for so long. If they manage to paint the repuke party as such, in my dreams at least, it would be a death knell.

10. I will take this to its logical conclusion...
If there is an arguement about this, the response to the fundies should be quite simply:

"God, in His wisdom, has seen fit to make His wishes known through the Judges that have been empowered to make such decisions. This can be shown by the fact that the dismissal of Moore was unanymous, thereby affirming that this decision was just. For you to think otherwise would constitiute an affront to Divine Wisdom; something most would consider profoundly UNwise".

Of course, there will be some that find fault, but this is just how I would handle the situation.
