2. I heard Santorum ob NPR
What an asshole. He said, "I can't wait until I get my hands on a nominee under the next Democrat, I can't wait." Do they really think 100% of the nominees should be approved?

10. Can't shoot straight
Clinton had 64 blocked vs 4 Republican nominees filibustered. If they stop Dems next chance it will hurt them if it gets over 4% held out.

16. In the paper today Santorum basically admitted double standard
He is reluctant to sue for a change in Senate rules to overturn the Supermajority thing, just in case Repukes want to use that tactic against Dems...
So the rules are good when right-wing neo-con-job types want to use them against Democrats, but the Dems are wrong to play by the rules against Repukes....
The hypocrisy of these extremists is so blatant and transparent; how is it that so many sheeple in this country are blinded by these morons???

Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 10:25 AM by Wednesdays
(on edit):

They're going for a THIRD vote! Maybe they didn't hear the results of the first two, or do you think they're going to change anyone's mind in 15 minutes?

:wtf:

14. I think they're playing to that "three cloture votes" thing
It was proposed by Democrats back when the Repubs were blocking all of Clinton's appointees, but shot down by the Republicans. Apparently they've had a "change of heart" and probably just want to take the three votes as a symbolic gesture to throw in the Dems' faces.

7. They've Voted For Cloture Twice
First one was the 4th or 5th time for the Judge from Texas. She lost 53 to 42. The second was for Kuhl and she lost 53 to 43. Now they are doing Brown.

17. i don't get it
they are now voting on the issue which dems were blocking because repubs have a majority vote. but now that it's being voted on there's no repub majority?
what gives? they fell asleep after all, they changed their minds thanks to relentless debating by the dems?

19. Not Sure What The Question Is, But.....
the whole 40 hours of palaber was about the fact that the Dems. used a tool that is available to them and has been used by the Repugs before but not in the same way.

The speeches were because the Dems. had been filibustering the Judicial nominees that they felt were far to the right. There were four of them including Estrada who backed out. When you filibuster it takes a 'super majority' or 60 votes to do 'cloture' or close the filibuster.

After the speeches, they went back and tried again. The Repugs were not able to get cloture on any of the three they just tried to put up gain. Now there are 6 who are being filibustered.

I hope that clears it up.
