Could the Repub Congress fear that there will be a Dem President in 2004?

Could the Repub Congress fear that there will be a Dem President in 2004?
Maybe the push to get the conservative judges voted on is because there is a feeling that they won't get another chance after next November.

I think the same may be happening with the drug bill and the energy bill.

Perhaps they fear that there will be a Dem President and a Repub Congress in 2004.

These are about the only judge appointments they have at this time...

3. I think that their current behavior is evidence that they KNOW there
will be a Dem president in 2004. Look at what they've been doing:

1) Overblowing the importance of memogate and using it to try to stall the investigation of the Bush Administration.

2) Threatening to file a lawsuit to end a filibuster -- the lawsuit will essentially have them crying to the U.S. Supreme Court to intercede in a manner that crosses the separation of powers -- which they did with the 2000 presidential election.

3) Tom Delay's outrageous campaign donation appeal under the guise of charity.

Those are the recent things they've done. But redistricting & recalls show that they don't feel all too confidant that they'll win without actively meddling with the system.
