Clark Meets With Kosovar Albanians

A group of ten Albanian-Americans traveled from states throughout the Northeast to meet with General Wesley Clark Thursday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They are part of the National Albanian American Council, an organization for Albanians that promotes peace and economic development in the Balkans.

One member, Richard Lukaj of Connecticut, said that the group has a tremendous respect for Clark and the work he did in the Balkans. Many of the members have family members who were displaced by the ethnic cleansing of the former regime.

"We're a small fraction of the people who wish to be here to express our gratitude to General Clark," Lukaj said. "When a million people are displaced in one part of the world, it doesn't just affect them. It affects their families around the world."

The group said that Clark's leadership as NATO Supreme Allied Commander in the Balkans is important to them.

It looks like a pretty well-managed, positive outcome to me. I can find imperfections, big surprise, but I have seen no overall criticism that impresses me one whit, considered in a real world context.
