Everyone, please get your rocks off tonight. I for one would like to go back to seeing Dems hating Repukes and the Bush cabal tommorow. Bashing fellow Dems is so tiresome.

3. i love bill clinton
clinton wants us to focus on problems now. i see nothing wrong with this. the bush administration has made a mess in just about every place. the economy, iraq, etc. why not attack them on all the issues ? that's one of the problems with democratic strategy. we chose one thing and decide and t hink that will bring down the chimp. but we should be going after him in all areas. i'm not saying not to go after him on the niger uranium issue. but that we should go after him on many issues.

5. Clinton is a super-smart man and he didn't say what he said
just for *'s sake. It's deeper than that. Remember, he is 3 steps ahead of all of us (that's why the repugs were always angry). He said what he said for a reason and it AINT'T to help *.

Flame away.

15. i think we have good reason to be upset
the supposed "leader" of "our side" basically excuses bush's lying... how the hell are we SUPPOSED to feel?

i know a lot of you think this is politically motivated, and i agree... but not the way you guys think... some might say this is "simplistic thinking" on my part, but if anything, i believe clinton's comments tonight most served hillary's run in 2008 more than anything else... i think we ALL agree that bill's a political genius... more the reason to believe that he saw how devastating this story is becoming for bush and his chances at winning in 2004... what does clinton gain from a democrat winning in 04? nothing, absolutely nothing... he knows four more years of bush will all but ENSURE a win for hillary in 08; and hell, it'll make him look like that much more of an incredible president during his years...

i've read some of your other rationales on why he might have said what he did, and some are well taken... but it's just too much of a stretch to me... sure, i can see where some of you guys are coming from when you say this is his way of using republicans' attack on clinton against them, and how they will no longer be able to say that the criticism of bush is "revenge for the clinton impeachment." that's a rational argument... BUT, do we really think clinton would go out on a limb like this JUST to help get a dem in office in '04 and to further hurt bush? no way!

but politically motivated or not... at the VERY least, his comments excused bush's lying... that, to me, is an outcry.

never forget, don't be fooled...

22. You nailed it. I am very disgusted at Clinton. Doesn't he give a damn
about what Bush has done to this country? The odd thing is that his statements only give credence to what the right has said about him all along: that he is a selfish and calculating person.

What purpose did his comments serve? Gee, I think they really helped George Bush.

I watched Oreilly tonight play a recording of Clinton's comments. He made a pretty big deal of what Clinton said.

Bush has been an absolute diaster for this country, and Clinton is defending his lying in the SOTU.

How the hell can Clinton do this?

He can't. Not in good conscience.

31. I have said this on here before
Bill and Hillary are gonna make sure no Dem wins in 2004 unless it is Hillary. I think if bush looks vulnerable she might come late to the show in 2004. Otherwise they are stealling all the air from the rest of the field. Look at the timing of the book releases. Look how they are not out there talking much to help any of the canidates. They want to be sure that no Dem wins in 2004 so Hillary has the open nod in 2008.

13. GOP tries as standard response - who listens to whining Democrats?
And I was with a crowd tonight that buys that - and say if the facts are really as I said the media would give the stories "legs".

It comes down to the media - center and center-right folks note the lack of Bush critics in the media, and translate that into Dems are whiners.

The media refusing to chase Bush lies, double talk, effects on economy and foriegn policy, could end up as the reason Bush gets elected in 04.

"The media refusing to chase Bush lies, double talk, effects on economy and foriegn policy, could end up as the reason Bush gets elected in 04."

That and the fact none of our announced canidates are particularly compelling.

17. I haven't been following
these threads too closely, but I heard this one tonight: Clinton doesn't think there's a chance for a Dem victory in '04, so by making these statements he's shoring up Hillary's chances for '08. That is, by deflecting any criticism that she was pro-war and deflating the only possibility of a contentious election next year. Does that make sense to anyone? Has this been put forth? Just curious, it doesn't really resonate with me, but it's an interesting argument.

18. Ummm, no
It has nothing to do with her potential canidacy in 2008 in my opinion.
It cuts one of two ways depending on who you are. If you hate Clinton, it's another example of how he is a Repuke in Dem clothing. If you like Clinton, his comments were an attempt to refocus the party on the lousy economy.

But I think it was fair, wasn't it? I mean if you like Clinton you think it has some deeper meaning. If you don't, it's further evidence he's a cretin.

32. bipartisanship
hey now, theres a proud tradition of bipartisanship at work here. When the Bush (cancelled check)$$$$ role in the retention of US hostages in Iran was being "investigated" bipartisanship whitewashed the facts and covered up the TREASON, despite the upcoming election. When Enron raped the world, bipartisanship held the door while they whisked their takings off to Swiss banks, rather than freeze them as they were required to do by law. When ... aw never mind. Just keep up the puzzled looks and confused reactions to the disconnect between the two party fantasy and the one big party reality. Sleep it off and start anew tomorrow, suckers!

Sometimes around here knee jerk reactions take a bit, and its a good opportunity for the pile on to occur (as in, "I never liked so-and-so, blah blah blah...")

Eh, I've made plenty knee jerk reactions...it'll blow over on its own, I guess.

34. What Dems are doing is serious stuff
Excusing everything especially on Dec 12 2000.

We can't keep doing it.

We can't keep killing and taking over countries.

We can't ignore the poor, uneducated, uninsured, unemployed while those working fools who have a job pay all the taxes for toys for the mil brass which puts big bill $'s in the pockets of the CEOs, while the legal among them move step by step to destroy the constiution and steal our rights, while the born agains dictate policies and covering of statues, whil the brain washing continues about our greatest country on the earth which ends in eye for eye killing.

Everyone in charge is a lunatic or fearful. This is madness to let this happen. Damn the attitudes. Killing cannot be tolerated. Robbing people cannot be tolerated. Lying in every word coming out of the TV and radio cannot be tolerated.

The Clintons can no longer be tolerated. The day - today - that the right wing media praises Clinton signifies our bleak future.
