EXCLUSIVE: A-Rod seems to be a republican, or atleast support Bush
On a whim I entered his name at opensecrets.com for individual donors and this is what I got

Contributor Occupation Date Amount Recipient

RODRIGUEZ, ALEXANDER ENMAN MR/STOCKTON,CA 95208/ TEXAS RANGER/SHORTSTOP/ 8/12/2003 / $2,000/ Bush, George

http://www.opensecrets.org/indivs/search.asp?txtName=Rodriguez%2C+alex&NumOfThou=0&txt2004=Y&submit=Go%21

It's a dissapointment, although I'm not shocked. Pro athletes tend to lean republican. I'm not sure whether being the highest played payer in baseball(252 million over 10 years) would make a person more less conservative.

4. right
I'm not one of those people who says that he and others in pro sports are overpaid. I mean, the Rangers couldn't afford him but that's another story.

He did rise from humble beginnings and through hard work became the best player in baseball, but because he's been surrounded by rich and powerful people since he was in highschool really(scouts etc.) and he's been in the majors I believe since he was 21 or 22, I have no doubt he's lost perspective on how hard it is for most people.

I still admire the guy, I just think he's become accustomed to the upper class, "everyone who's poor is lazy and/or stupid" mindset.

12. I think so too
Wasn't Bush the owner when he signed that contract? I forgot. It would figure. The Rangers put all thier eggs in one basket trying to be Steinbrenner.

16. Junior wasn't the owner, in fact., Dipshit sold the entire team for less
than what Pay-rod got in his contract.

So this is one thing we can't blame on the Bushes :-(

3. Howard Dean contributed to George Bush in 1991!
Of course, NOT the current Dem contender, some other Howard Dean from Scottsdale, AZ...

...but I made your heart skip a bit, huh?

many of the more rabid supporters of other candidates would be wanting to crucify him.

7. we know Julio Franco is a Bushie
During the playoffs, the Fox sportscasters felt the need to tell us before every pitch that Bush went to Franco's wedding.

13. yeah, me too, where is Stockton?
I'm not sure about the contribution/adress rules.

You would think A-Rod's cash would either come from his place in Miami or from the Dallas area.

Is Stockton nere UCLA? That's where I think he might have spent a year in college but I could be wrong

Also, he might have lived there while he played for the Mariners? Or when he was in the minors?

10. Head of MLB Player's Union gave to Bradley and Gore in 2000
Donald Fehr. No money for Bush. Another case of the union boss supporting the Democrat while the rank and file vote Republican.

He's given to all Democrats, and Zell Miller, though that was in 2000 before Zell lost it.
