I was watching some drivel on CSpan this morning on which a Republican lawyer was being interviewed. He was commenting on the 40-hour disgrace. In his comments he went on and on about the minority blocking nominations. I was getting mad as much as anything else because this oaf didn't have a clue about the voice of the minority in our government. Then it occured to me, and this is really my question, are the Democratic Senators in fact representatives of the minority? There may not be a majority of Democratic Senators, but do they not represent the majority of the population? I mean let's face it, I'd guess that Hillary Clinton, even if you want to think of her only representing half of the people of New York, still has more Democratic Constitutants than the combined total all of the Republican Senators in the Rocky Mountain west. By God we are not a minority, we are at worst equal in numbers to the Republicans and in all likely hood outnumber them. It is no shame that our MAJORITY interests be protected by our good men and women in the Senate.
And as long as I've got your ear: God bless Robert Byrd.
