Out of curiousity, I just went to check out DU's traffic-ratings at alexa. In the process, I stumbled across their (Amazon-like) review section :

I have posted on this site for a while now. I have noticed that this site is not a conservative site as it claims to be. It seems to be an increasingly Christian bashing site that in fact has a purpose far more sinister than once thought. If there ever were a such thing as a disinformation catagory, I would rank this site in that to be sure. The owner of this site has an I am god attitude and has a bad habit of banning Christians at many turns. The primary theme of this site is liberalism disguised as a conservative site. Any religious effect there is a catholic one but very much not in favor of any other religious faith. My rating to any Christians who might go there, Don't waste your time, you will be banned soon enough. Free speech is not welcome there. Try another conservative site more conservative friendly.

People like him make like interesting for I/P mods. I can tell you that from experience.

I even threw in a review! Not being as radical as some of those who are not necessarily DU material, (ie, the freepers), I felt justified in giving DU 5 stars and recommending it to anyone who does not like to run lockstep with the RW'nuts.

I suppose there's going to be some new lurkers posting snotty comments over there any minute now, so maybe some of us should go post some more glowing reviews. Especially as so many of us DUers now have a vested interest after our latest fundraising drive.

I've been here since about June of 2001 and I have haven't quite had my fill of this place yet -- though I admit to experiencing some biliousness every so often (hey -- that's not bad...think I should post it as a review?).

The question I have is: Why? Politics aside, the Freep site is difficult to navigate and the threads are nearly impossible to follow.

Oh well. It's more fun to be a Progressive.

Click on the following link. Then, underneath the graph, type in "freerepublic.com" in the text-field and hit "compare sites". That'll give a two-year running comparison of their traffic-statistics for both sites. As of late 2001, DU was ranked about #75000 and FR was ranked about #1100. In the two years since then, DU has risen dramatically (to about #1500), while FR is still hanging out pretty close to where it was two years ago (just below #1000). Go team :)

It is heard to discern what attraction Democratic Underground might hold for any sentient creature. Sentient creatures peek in and move on. Only the sick in soul are calloused and insensible enough to linger more than a few minutes each day. The more viorous inhabitants of the DU dumspter are acutely paranoid, desperate doppelgangers of Auden's "Horror" in the lyric poem "O Where Are You Going?": O what was that bird! said horror to hearer, did yo see that shape in the twisted trees? Behind you swiftly the figure comes softly, that spot on your skin is a shocking diesease! The less vigrous and more typical inhabitants randomly disgorge posts and comments that are as repetitive and dull as a leaky faucet drip; humor is more scarce than an honest word on the lips of Bill Clinton. As a political discussion site, Democratic Underground is the Internet component of the death rattle of far left ideology that has been sucking hard for breath ever since Evil Empire took a stone in the forehead in the late 1980s and fell gracelessly and heavy face-first in the rude mud of reality and universal contempt.

It's really bad when you write such an obviously sophomoric review as an intellectual poseur. His typos, run-on sentences, and copious grammatical errors are just the icing.
