GOP putting political gain above their racist tendencies? Re: LA election
this makes me wonder...What are they getting at? The majority of the GOP base rallied behind one of the "brown folk" in today's election...voting in similar percentages as past elections, and they went overwhelmingly for Jindal. This leads be to believe that even the most die-hard kkk racist will vote straight ticket, as long as the candidate is anti-choice, anti seperation of church & state, etc etc..

What do yall think? Does race matter any more to them? Or is POWER the overriding factor?

7. They voted for Jindal because he is male
There was an article in the Baton Rouge newspaper this morning. Had interviews with Jefferson Parish (David Duke country) voters. The people who said they were voting for Jindal were doing so because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for a woman.

8. This is an excellent and serious question.
This election needs to be looked at closely. It was indeed a deep southern state, and people of Indian decent have not been able to hold any elective office of significant anywhere in the U.S. that I am aware of. That an Indian-American would be able to gain the nonimation of the Republican party, and run a competitive race may speak volumes.

10. Seriously speaking..
I'd love to see a study done of polling with Kathleen Babineaux Blanco's middle name included, and then not included. I wonder if that very Cajun name made a difference in Acadiana, where we usually don't do as well.

I'd also love to take a look under the hood of Landrieu and Blanco's get-out-the-vote efforts. If they can win in Louisiana like this (pretty consistently at this rate), maybe we can take notes for a national GOTV model.

This is a much more significant race than national news network coverage would indicate.
