283 dead since "Mission Accomplished"
Today we have passed another grim milestone. With the downing of the 2 helicopters, near Mosul, the number of U.S soldiers killed in Iraq has climbed to 283. That's more than twice the number, 138, that were killed before Jr strutted onto the carrier to proclaim that combat operations were over.

Can anyone military historians in here tell me of any another case where TWICE as many soldiers were killed AFTER the victory was declared?

1. This is only the "official" count. Somewhere else in DU I read that
casualties (wounded and killed) were 7000? How many of the wounded have died and not been counted?
