Where do you guys think this will end?

This is a question and commentary from Dad, whose politics are considered conservative.

Operation Hammer and tongs or whatever, doesn't seem to be working.

I can't see us leaving Iraq for several years if the chimp gets reelected. That will mean a continuation of our troops being picked off regularly. Syria and Iran must feel safer now that the US has no troops to spare for them. Oh, I forgot. We have the coalition. I almost puke when I hear that word. USA troops probably number 150,000, other members of the coalition maybe 1000.

The others in the coalition were stationed in what were considered safe areas, the Italians included. So much for safe areas. I still have to chuckle at the Polish forces. They sent a truck brigade with no trucks. I'm sure they figured with no trucks it would be harder to ship them to a danger area.

One million are expected to protest Bush in the UK. He is without a doubt the most hated man in the world. I hope he doesn't refer to Charles as "Queenie," even though there seems to be some evidence that the title might fit.

I saw Hatch on TV recently. He was really pissed that most other countries are not contributing to reconstruction. Talk about chutzpah! We arbitrarily flatten a country and now Germany and France are supposed to pick up the tab.

2. We're in a pickle and the world is trying to teach Bushco a lesson
Edited on Sun Nov-16-03 03:08 AM by jokerman2004
I predict an inevitable return of the draft and a government even more insular and less responsive to public opinion -- that is if trends continue with a Bush re-election, which in our bizzarro world still seems somehow possible!

Otherwise if we get some rational statesmen into office next year, and throw these PNAC cultists out, maybe the support will come back and we'll lose far fewer precious lives needlessly. Either way we're F'ed for quite a few more years. I only hope we can prosecute a hard reverse course next year by making it impossible for this group to remain in power.

On edit:
It's all just so weird and scarey lately. Ironically, that's just the way this administration wseems to want it.

5. Well it does seem that American believe in war for all problems.
How, pray tell, are you going to get people that love war and its toys to stop doing it? You would think we were Prussian, or Sparta. Is their one man that run for office, beside Sanders, that does not run on a stong army to beat the world. Why are we spending all our money on war when we should be sending people to schools to be re-tained and make our country better. Now we wish to control space. What are we in fear of that Holland will attack us maybe, or get into space? We are wasting the worlds goods and ours on silly wars so big corp can have our money and silly men can ride around in planes and make believe they are great men.I am fed up with living in a war state my whole life.I saw Germans bombing people in towns and countries in the news as a child and now I am watching my oun country half way around the world doing the same thing.A life time of this is just to far over the edge.

3. We'll stay even if Bush loses.
I hope it isn't true, but I think any democrat who gets elected will probably just keep the troops ther getting killed anyways. All about keeping the area secure and preventing a massacre of american collaboraters, but really to win the next election. Just like Nixon. Pulling out of Iraq won't be popular. At least until we see dead american troops being drug through the streets by Iraqi civilians. And the media ain't showing that. Probably already happened.

I don't see a draft. Only reason we had it in Vietnam was because of post WWII gung-ho hawks thinking nothing the US could do was bad.

4. I agree.
A Democratic President will (hopefully) stop, or at least slow down, our freefall into oblivion. Recovering from the damage Bush has wrought is another matter. Even if we elected a truly decent President, the Democratic Party would drag him down.

6. This has come full circle - a feud btwn. Bush and Saddam
That's all it was from the beginning. That's all it is at the end. Here's my timeline:

Gulf War I. Bush Daddy, reversing a near erotic relationship to Saddam Hussein for services rendered against Iran, launches war to keep cheap oil flowing from Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. At some point, Saddam makes threat against Bush Daddy. Junior gets wind of it, and in his obsessive little vindictive mind, trips a trigger that will define his life.

Bush Daddy dumped by the People Regardless of the media lies to the contrary, Bushes do NOT take losing lightly. If pictures are worth a thousand words, the now famous photo of a literally crest fallen Bush Daddy on the morning after losing his re-election to Bill Clinton says it all. Bush Daddy truly believed it was his entitlement to a second term. After all, he won a war. Junior felt the same, and a vendetta against those awfull democratic liberals and Saddam Hussein (who remained in power while Daddy packed up his office stuff and left) solidified in his black little heart.

The Rise of the Son Junior is selected president. He surrounds himself with Cold War era anti-Saddam fanatics, and remnants from his dad's old cabinet. Mission: Get Saddam for what he did to Daddy.

Path of War on Iraq The anti-Saddam cabal in the White House puts together it's PR campaign to topple Saddam. The portfolio is impressive: They "know" he has WMD. They "know" that he is working on a nuke weapons program. They "know" he has biological weapons labs all over the country. They "know" he was behind 9/11 and had links to AlQuaeda. They "know" the inspections aren't "working".

So Junior uses all the above to launch a war on Iraq.

Saddam toppled, but not found Months after US troops overrun and occupy Iraq, here's the scorecard:

NO WMD found.

NO evidence of a viable nuke program.

NO "yellow cake uranium" attempted buy from Nigeria

NO "mobile biological labs for the use of making bio weapons"

NO imminent threat to the USA

NO evidence found that Iraq had active WMD programs after Gulf War I at all

NO evidence that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11 (tell Cheney, somebody, he's still harping on it)

NO link found to AlQuaeda

NO evidence Iraq transferred WMD to terror cells or other countries.

Junior tells America, after all that, that we won't leave till we "find Saddam" Failing all his other lies, we inevitably end up back at where this all started - Junior's obsessive attempt to "get" Saddam.

All this, all the dead and dying, for Junior's personal vendetta. Remember that the next time some freeper or nutcase tries to tell you this is all for our "freedom".
