campaign finance resources?
Does anyone know where I can find campaign finance rules and regulations? Are the rules different depending on office-- i.e. I am going to be running for U.S. Congress in Michigan...

The reason I'm having so much trouble is that I've found some websites that offer a lot of fundraising ideas that from what I understand would be illegal! My brother is active in the Dean campaign, and he started an e-bay account called "donatefordean," with the goal of getting people to donate goods for auction which he would then take the proceeds of and donate to the Dean campaign. After being on the job for about twenty minutes, a Dean campaign official shut him down. Yet this is EXACTLY what victorystore.com advocates-- and I mean EXACTLY. The Dean campaign official said you cannot provide a service or goods to people and collect the money to be used for a campaign-- yet what is a house party if not goods and services (food and entertainment)? What of selling t-shirts and bumper stickers?

I have come to you guys for help in the past and you have always come through, but I have NEVER been so frustrated as I am right now. Hopefully an alert DUer will catch this post before it gets burried with more Dean vs. Clark vs. Kerry hoopla. Thanks in advance!

2. Go here:
www.fec.gov

The Dean campaign is correct. House parties do not sell goods or services. Attendees donate directly to the campaign and fill out donor cards with their information that is required by the FEC rules.
