Ron Sims: Seattle's George Bush? (Extinction stalks Seattle.)
Gary Locke may be Washington State's most corrupt Governor ever. He's so bad, he's often referred to as a Republican. (He's a Democrat.) Paul Schell was Seattle's most embattled Mayor and was possibly the most disgraced big-city Mayor in America. But you don't hear much about another power broker, King County Executive Ron Sims.

Though Sims is African American, there are some interesting similarities between him and George W. Bush. Bush claims to be a man of God; Sims is an ordained minster. Sims quickly followed Bush's lead in exploiting terrorism.

Bush hobnobs with the rich. Ron Sims was with Paul Allen as they watched the Kingdome demolished in preparation for Allen's new tax-subsidized football stadium.

Bush likes Diebold voting machines. Ron Sims presided over a computer scandal that cost taxpayers something like $40 million. He quickly admitted he goofed, the Seattle Times printed an editorial praising him for heroically admitting his mistakes, and both quickly moved on to their next scandals.

I believe George Bush's administration declared some Puget Sound Indian tribe extinct. It has just been revealed that an important salmon run has been declared extinct. The stand Ron Sims took to protect the run is simply underwhelming.

I believe Ron Sims is now running for Washington Governor. With candidates like him, who needs Republicans?

1. Bush hob-knobs with the rich?
I didn't know he was such a social butterfly.

I always pictured him in his jammies at 7 pm and asleep by 9.
