Bush UK visit - "Distraction" for Medicare/Drug Bill & Energy Bill.......
Edited on Tue Nov-18-03 06:22 AM by cthrumatrix
We all know the shannigan's of this administation and politicians in general.

What's important this week:

1) The energy bill - the billions in corporate tax giveaways, scrutiny of what's really in it and what are the advantages. Costing $60+Billion.

2) Medicare / Drug Bill - word is getting out even though there is talk of passage when the bill is not fully written. AARP support for this is scam. Seniors, if given the scoop, will be taken to the cleaners. Ted Kennedy and others are trying to alert people. Others including those who sponsored the bill ... have drug money contributions on thier hands (those links have already been posted here).

The main reason for shrub's visit : DISTRACTION !!!!

Don't talk about issues. News coverage will be all over the visit. The drug/medicare bill released last weekend. Does that give you a clue that they don't want "daylight" or understanding of this bill.

2. Who is against the bill .. ...? What are Dem leaders doing ?
Senate Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are critical of both the Medicare and energy deals, but they might have a hard time preventing moderates from breaking ranks and allowing Bush to declare bipartisan victories. Already, Sens. John Breaux (D-La.) and Max Baucus (D-Mont.) are hailing the Medicare agreement, which they helped strike, and several Democrats from oil- and ethanol-producing states are expected to vote for the energy package, too.

3. Burying the news...
I imagine a lot of things will quietly be released while the visit is on, on both sides of the pond: With shrub all over the news, it be a great time to release unemployment figures, nose-diving economy stats, injuries from Iraq... Everything that normally makes the front page will get shoved down to page 15 and slip off the radar.
