"Something Pretty Big" teaser at TPM regarding Astroturf letters
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2003_11_16.html#002215

"Oh Boy ... Something pretty big is coming down the pike tomorrow apparently. The world of Astroturf organizing may be shaken all the way down to its phony-baloney roots. "

1. We can only hope
Astroturfing, and it's cousin', the Lying Bushevik Blast E-Mail (often falsely attributed to people, or even attributed to people who never existed), needs to be exposed.

But I'll believe it when I see it...

2. I'm surprised we don't see morre "astroturf" LTE catches
Since you can now search for duplicates on the internet fairly easily.

In example, this LTE in today's Seattle PI sounds very "astroturfy" to me:

Each Democrat has just lost one vote
I find myself more and more at odds with the political agenda and direction of the political party of my parents and grandparents, which was the Democratic Party. I find the purposes and methods of the current senators indefensible and damaging to the welfare of the United States and its citizens.

To use the weaknesses of the rules and procedures of government to further purely political purposes and agenda is offensive to me and damaging to the nation. I find myself, for the first time, looking for ways and means to defeat the representatives now in office. The current fiasco in the Senate concerning the confirmation of people nominated to be judges by means other than an up or down vote is inexcusable. I have determined to work actively to defeat the sitting Democratic senators and representatives.

4. it's already been exposed that it happens
and they already published the name of the general that did those phony troop letters.

So, if Marshall is saying this is big, then my hope is that it's a connection to someone big, maybe even someone that someone once said should be frog-marched out of the White House.
