Uday and Qusay's Greatest Hits
The had Faux News on at the gym today. It was sickening. Just a bunch of talking heads telling Uday and Qusay war stories. After about the third time of *'s gloating I had to leave. :puke:

Is that supposed to make us feel good about this war?

1. It's Classic Spin

It's meant to distract us from the fact the Saddam Hussein was the villain of the piece. How can Bush honestly say, with a straight face that "the former regime is gone, and it ain't coming back", when Saddam is still at large... or isn't he? Is he dead too, ready to be paraded in some future Wag The Dog moment? How else can Bush be sure the former regime is gone for good?

3. Anyhow!
The British occupation of Iraq produced Saddam, The good old USofA nourished Saddam. There are many Saddams in the world, he would return, different face, different name.

4. Plus
It's the flip side of soemthing we see here.

The RWers think "Saddams sons were awful, we oppose them, so therefore we are right."

For SOME in DU it seems to be "We are wrong, they oppose us, therefore THEY are not as bad as we say they are."

Both sides ignore the fact that BOTH sides can be wrong. We can have a government that lies about starting a war and STILL be fighting a thuggish regime that deserved to be overthrown BY ITS OWN PEOPLE or by a UN-sanctioned truly international force, not the US, some Brits, a Spanish warship and a 12-man Polish CW team.
