Would any of you like to write one that I can see about publishing in a new book? Be honest, but not to volgar (yes I know it is hard to do when talking about Bush, but please try). Please e-mail me or if you like PM me.

1. Oh, you should ask for people's ARCHIVES of letters already sent!!!!!
Edited on Thu Jul-24-03 02:14 PM by DagmarK
To track the progression of OUTRAGE as his presidency digressed/progressed!

No kidding, have a chapter for EACH month from election day forward!

In fact, a great book would be ALL types of letters written in response to his policies and egregious actions. So have people give you copies of letters they have written about it ALL!!!!!!!

Sorry.....I am a sag......have a tendency to EXPAND everything.

My ONE letter to Bush? Oh, it's VULGAR but it still has a lot of substance! I will PM you with it.

Lucky for me.....it didn't go through!

3. I will be glad to use any letter's new or old my friend
I just want to see a document that records all of our feelings on this. That way the kids from 10 to 20 years from now can see how we felt about the Bush administration.

I wrote this e-mail to * right after the story of the missing pet cat. If you don't remember, the Bush's pet cat was missing and the people caring of it where here in LA. I wrote the letter as if I was a little kid.

Hello Mr Bush,

I want to tell you that I am happy your cat was found. I have a cat too. He is real nice. But sometimes he is mean. But I like him. When I was little, I lived in Mexico and I had a lot of cats and a pet donkey.

Do you have any donkeys or horses? I miss my donkey, he is very nice My daddy says my donkey can visit, but he won't fit in the elevator. Do you have any elevators in the White House? They must be big enough for donkeys, cuz my daddy said that there is a big jackass running the White House now.

Your friend,

Reynoldo Chavez

Needless to say I never got a responce.

4. Okay, here' s my ONE letter to Bush. I am not speaking to him anymore!
Edited on Thu Jul-24-03 02:56 PM by DagmarK
**And this is the day the DAM broke for me. I just absolutely lost it. I suppose it was a breakthrough day for me.....cause I became VERY active from that point on. And why wasn't I active before that? Because I was afraid of my govt! I was afraid of Ashcroft and his goons. And afraid I would get on a list. But on Feb 6, 2003, I was all......to hell with those goons, if they lock me up.....it will be better than sitting idley by!** ALAS, the letter would never go through on the WH website.....so he never got it. But I got my courage to stand up to them. And that's what counts.

**I attached a paper on govt systems for Bush's EDUCATION.....it's long.....but easily removed for your purposes

February 6, 2003

Dear President Bush:

This is my first letter to you. Somehow I do not believe that it will be my last. But I ask myself why I have not written to you to express my opinions, fears and worries about the nature of your work as President of the USA, the greatest country in the Free World. I have suppressed my voice only because I FEAR retribution from the government if I so much as publicly speak out against it - or you. I am incredulous that I - and many other distinguished Americans - fear retribution of some kind from you and your administration should we speak out against you and your policies. I believe it was Secretary of State Rumseld who referred to North Korea as a “terrorist regime” this week, and my thought at that time was, “is there really any difference between the Bush Administration and that of Kim Il Jong’s? I don’t think so. Not given my fear to speak out against you.

I am obviously one of the alleged “minority” Americans who oppose war on Iraq. But I assure you I am not a left-wing tree-hugging liberal who resorts to spray painting public buildings and getting arrested every time the government does something with which I disagree. No, I am an active moderate Democrat who regularly serves her country by participating in grassroots election campaigns. That has been the extent of my political activism - until now. For statistical purposes, I am white, 41 years old, college-educated. Oh, I am also pro-abortion rights. Heck, just categorize me as one of those “damned uppity white feminists” and you will have my number. I was born and raised in Texas, by the way. Even attended Midland Community College back in the early 1980’s. Believe me, I saw the “Senator’s son” partying big time at the Wall Street Bar & Grill on more than one occasion! And to think that that arrogant piss-ant became not only the governor of Texas……..but is now our PRESIDENT…….has shifted my sense of reality to new dimensions! So be it…..I wholeheartedly believe in and support the electoral process. If someone legitimately gains entry to office, then I support his or her role as a public servant. To a point. And you have exceeded your legitimacy.

The target of my ire today that forces me to speak up is this current RED ALERT status that just came across the wires and was reported to the media by senior US officials “under conditions of anonymity.”

Under conditions of “anonymity”? I am not going to believe that there is any more of a threat today than there was yesterday or last week. I can only pray that the American people will SEE that your administration is desperate to gain public support and that it is using FEAR TACTICS to manipulate public opinion. I do not think it is necessary to outline how outrageous and immoral I think it is that FEAR tactics would be used in this way. It’s cruel and baseless. But, hey, I realize that FEAR was a huge factor for you getting such high approval ratings after the September 11th terrorist attacks. That approval rating (indeed induced by well-founded fears) has served you and your agenda quite nicely. But I assure you, the American people are becoming accustomed to this new world threat and are becoming much more moderate in their views about how to deal with it (like perhaps taking an inventory of WHY we are so hated by many in the Muslim world). I have to believe that the tide is working against you. And this new RED ALERT status is an example of how far you HAVE to go to get what you want.

I attach to this letter a political science paper that I quickly found on the web as I was looking for a valid definition of TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP to send to you as it has always been apparent that you did not do much studying in college and have certainly not spent much time READING since college. I read through the definitions in this paper concerning dictatorship, totalitarian, and liberal, and the writing is on the wall. Our country IS in grave danger. And it is from within rather than from without that our greatest threats are manifesting. I have no doubt whatsoever that as a result of this letter that my federal file will be pulled and labeled “subversive - keep an eye on her” by your new Homeland Security Department. And hence, my accusations will have been proved. I guess I am willing to suffer the consequences at this point.

Here is a shorter definition and illustration of totalitarianism that I believe to be the backbone of your administration’s role in our lives today:

"The totalitarian dictator is not just more of the same thing; he is something totally different. Inspired to liberal frenzy by the development of technology that makes it possible, he wants total power, power over every aspect of your life, from what you eat, to where you work, to what you read and think and then some. Hence, the term "totalitarian dictatorship.""

"So, how do you recognize metastasizing totalitarianism? Certainly one symptom has to be the centralization of power, especially police power, in the government. That could well be the main symptom, for the obvious reason that centralization of power is totalitarianism; is just another way of saying it. Look around. Do you see the centralization of power, especially police power in all its forms, in progress in this country? Is one man merging the main competing agencies? Is he erasing the line between federal and state police power? If so, you are looking at the main hallmark of dictatorship."

"Another hallmark is government by emergency. Dictators love emergencies such as war, because emergencies inhibit thought and deliberation. "

"Look around. Are people here becoming more and more afraid to speak their minds, as in Nazi Germany? Are certain subjects verboten?"

"Has the time come? Is today Der Tag? I don't know. I do know that Der Tag is coming. A long time ago, I was naïve, and believed the United States fought World War II because we hated Fascism. Now I understand that we fought because we love Fascism so much we want it all for ourselves."

I can’t believe that you have gotten away with what you have up to this point and that your authoritarian usurpation of power in every sector of this great society continues to snowball. And it is all founded on your administration playing on the fears of the American people. Or, rather, creating a streak of FEAR in the American people. This new RED ALERT status is proof of that. You are losing your high ratings here and abroad and you are desperate to get it back. But have you considered how utterly immoral it is to use FEAR to reach your objectives?

I can’t believe what has happened to this country in just two years. I can’t imagine that we will attain status as a free society anytime in my lifetime. I am incredulous and each day that passes, my incredulity mounts. I just can’t believe what is happening in this country. From the Department of Justice effectively shutting down FOIA requests to the creation of the new police state (Homeland Security) to the seemingly lack of action or interest on the part of your administration to dealing with REAL security issues like securing our borders, fixing the economy, rendering real aid to the elderly, to working to ensure good relations with Canada and Latin America, to…….well, I could go on and on with examples. But I will save that for a more reasoned letter when I feel less angst.

Just for the record, it is obvious that your goal to force this government into historical levels of deficit spending is aimed at manipulating the economy to raise interest rates. I mean, I think of the one big business interest that hasn’t yet gotten a piece of the Bush Pie and that’s the banks. Higher interest rates will get them back into the big money game. On top of the guaranteed higher interest rates, the state of the economy will force people much like me to have their homes foreclosed upon-thereby giving banks an unprecedented influx of land ownership which will bring in top dollars for the banks when the economy naturally does turn around. And I believe that to be the SOLE reason for the deficit that you have created. Good thing that I, just a middle class female, was able to buy my own home when Mr. Clinton was in office. Cause it will be a cold day in hell when a simple administrative assistant will be able to enjoy the privilege of home ownership. You are seeing to that. (In terms fronting me $300 in the tax relief package last year, do you actually believe that $300 is going to make ANY difference whatsoever in anyone’s life? Tax relief, plain and simple, can only be effected when the top 1% of the wealthiest people in this country start paying their due!)

Mr. Bush, do you sleep at night? I don’t. I am disgusted and terrified every time I wake up to see the new headlines. Today’s Red Alert headline “given under conditions of anonymity” with zero details as to what sort of threat we are allegedly looking at was by far the greatest example of why I really should be fearful of my government. And greatly INSULTED.

You are taking the Reagan/Bush Sr. platform to new heights. I am wondering, have you considered using Mr. Reagan’s astrologer as well? I think an afternoon with an astrologer might cast a new light on what you are doing, why, and what the true consequences are. One afternoon…….or even……just browse the internet and use the search terms “astrology bush war Pluto” and see what you come up with!

I can’t believe that you have in effect ruined diplomatic relations with every single country on this earth - save England, but I think the Brits will be voting him out of office very, very soon. Every country in the world stands against us. And our response, through Mr. Rumsfeld, is to insult them as a matter of international policy! Does anyone on your team even consider that snubbing, ignoring and alienating MEXICO and their president Vicente Fox is the perfect foundation for inducing the Mexican population (and perhaps government) to be a breeding ground and host to terrorist cells?

I historically only send Christmas cards to elected officials. And now I have resorted to sending scathing hate mail. I can’t believe that this moderate who believes so wholeheartedly in the goodness and legitimacy of the US Constitution has had to resort to castigating her own President. I am not alone in having such fears about the legacy that you are leaving for us all. I don’t know how this next month will play out, but I assure you, Mr. Bush, I have a greater belief in the goodness and formidable strength of the American people to stand up against the REAL axis of evil. History is in the making. But, somehow, I don’t believe things are going to go quite as well as you predict as you sit in the oval office in total glee of everything you have “accomplished” thus far! I am appalled. I am fearful. And the true Red Alert that Americans should be paying attention to is the one coming from the Oval Office.

All I ask is that you look within and see if there is any possible way that you can see that what you are doing is so completely INSANE and so very harmful to millions of people here and abroad. Search you conscience, Mr. President. There would be no finer hero in history than the one who took an honest inventory of what he is doing and had the COURAGE to turn things around. That could very well be your greatest legacy, if you so choose. (I know, I know…..the money and the power are awfully seductive……but just TRY.)

My next letter will be to members of the United Nations asking and pleading with them to pass a new resolution to put the United States of America on notice that she needs to rein in her aggressive, pre-emptive war threats OR ELSE. Truly, my greatest fear as I watch 1000s of reservists leave my region for Iraq, is that when/if we make a strike, and when the ensuing terrorist strikes against us here in this country start taking place, our troops and reservists will be half a globe away! Do you know how many reservists are policepersons, firepersons, medical personnel, etc.? If our country is facing threats for attacks within its borders, how on earth can it make sense that we send all of our protectors AWAY? There is no one to maintain the safety and security here. Not in Portland, Oregon, a city filled with bridges that I am sure the terrorists would just love to see be blown to bits. And our protectors are GONE. They out securing oil for Chevron and Exxon.

How dare you. That’s all I have to say. How dare you!

Regards,

PS: I watched the State of the Union address as I always do. The most revealing thing you said came right at the beginning, during your greeting. You said,

“THE PRESIDENT: Mr. Speaker, Vice President Cheney, members of Congress, distinguished citizens and fellow citizens:”

And I wondered, hmmmmm, what might it take to move from the sector of “fellow citizen” to “distinguished citizen”? I shudder to THINK! And I am pretty sure I don’t qualify. Thankfully.

Leviathan and the Liberal versus Totalitarian Dichotomy
Szasz Alpar Zoltan

The aim of this paper is to undertake a textual analysis of Leviathan with the aim of deciding to what kind of contemporary ideology and regime type comes closest the government advocated by Hobbes. For this purpose, defining the ideal types of totalitarian dictatorship and liberal democracy as well as operating with them is very expedient and also helpful because it allows references to the field of comparative politics. The analysis consist of reconstructing the Hobbesian world- view and state making use of the writing itself to finally identify its totalitarian and liberal traits as well as compare it semantically to the two ideal types. These operations will serve as bases for the conclusion and invite some comments on the Hobbesian project.

{EDIT, I removed the 8 page paper....too long for here]

Oh, well my bad I guess. I just figured that with all the bitching that goes on here more would be upset. But I guess I was wrong. I figured I would at least get into double digits, oh well I guess I need to ask more people on other sites. (DU is still the best)

11. Well, people are working during the day..............
So they may be reading and posting here and there......

But kick this for tonight's crowd......I guess I just did.

And kick in the morning.

But honestly, there is NO REASON to write BUSH a letter. The shop for the people is permanently closed. Do I think anything I have to say would impact anything? That's the PROBLEM. It doesn't.

I, and others, write letters to our elected officials. We have a madman on our hands. He is not to be reasoned with. Our only hope is to get the sane people in power on his butt......

I don't think Bush gets many angry letters........only the letters from the people who think he's a real man's man, the big protector........

12. It's not for Bush, it's for the public record in history
I want the world to know how real Americans feel about Bush.
The media and the administration may cover the truth, but I
want a hard back copy for history.

But then I tried it myself. I only get 3,820, but I think the difference is I put the phrase in quotes. You probably got a few (a lot of?) false hits if you left off the quotes.

10. Here's mine
I wrote this on 5/5/03:

President Bush:

You do not represent me.
You have sacrificed my freedom for false security.
You have sacrificed my place in the world with your brutal destruction of Iraq.
You have sacrificed my future with your borrow-and-spend fiscal policies.
You have sacrificed my well-being with tax cuts for your powerful friends.
You have sacrificed my environment with gutted regulations.
You have failed me in so many ways.
You have failed our country.
You should be ashamed.
