So, for those of us who thought that the media reporting the truth on Bush
was going to be our salvation next November, what do you all think now that we have the Michael Jackson circus?

You think maybe Arnold will make sure the trial runs during, oh say, next August, Semptember and October?

You think the media will split-screen the Democratic Convention, and maybe the debates with the the MJ trial?

You think the media will try to help Bush moonwalk his way to a second term?

Don't count on the media doing ANYTHING to hurt Bush next fall, and don't count on accurate reporting of bad shit, like Iraq or the economy hitting anybody's radar screen.

from June 1994 and throughout 1995. Michael Jackson and , oh yeah...the "Angry Democrats" blah, blah......

The only Democrats who will get attention are Mark Geragos and Gloria Allred.

3. AP! I don't for one minute believe you believed in the Media! Did you
really? With all you've been through here on DU? With all the "calls to action by DU'ers against Michael Powell's Media De-Regulation, and seeing what they've been since before Gore and the 2000 "Selection?"

I'm sad you still believed....But maybe there's hope that you now see them for what they are......:-(

4. I have to say this. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO CALM DOWN.
There. I feel better. I'm at work all day and check in with DU from time to time and I see the posts screaming about how some * press conference is on or it's Kobe all day. Listen to me carefully. The vast majority of Americans are not watching cable news or CSPAN, nor are they listening to right wing radio all day long.

Yes, we know 1000 times more than the average citizen, but that tends to make us think that they are paying attention. They aren't really paying attention; but I believe that there is a general sense of unease throughout the country. The average citizen hears stuff and what they are hearing is NOT GOOD. That is about the extent of what they know.

The American people take their cues from the broadcast networks and the local evening news and what I saw on the news tonight was generally depressing. Our president is hated by the British people, our closest allies. Michael Jackson, who is considered a freak by most, is being charged with child molestation. Bombs are going off all over the world and Iraq remains a mess.

Of course cable news is hysterical. They were hysterical before and have not changed at all. Watch ER. It's supposed to be good tonight.
