Possible Theme For Al Gore's News Network - The "REAL" News
"TRN" or something. I honestly think there is a market for a REAL NEWS NETWORK.

Slogans can be something along the lines of:

"If you're looking for Michael Jackson stories.... Keep looking"

"Reporting - The way it used to be"

"We look closer"

"Guerilla Reporting"

"No Tabloid Stories"

"Foreign Affairs. Not "Affairs""

Basically sell the channel on the premise of not giving in to 'juicy' soap-opera stories. They could make ads juxtaposing their programming with other 'news' networks programming (showing the endless Laci Peterson, MJ, Prince Charles coverage) - And addressing how these 'news' channels have been preempting real in-depth news in order to stay on top of the 'juicy' stories.

I think it could work.

1. I hope they get this up and running soon!
There is a desparate need for NEWS, even more now that we have the MJ 24/7 coverage on all the other channels!

2. Sex and violence are always going to sell but journalists used to

keep those stories in perspective. Network news covers far less foreign news than they used to, in order to make time for entertainment news.

My wife has only been in the US for a little over 4 years now and she is always shocked and saddened that the US news stops at the borders...

5. I would like to see him choose a few choice threads off DU each day...
and read the comments and discuss. It would make for a very interesting 1/2 hr or 1 hr show, in my opinion. :)
