State Visit A Flop

The British nobility were quite aware that Bush wasn't welcome in England. Every photograph shows them acting very stiff and formal, as if saying to themselves It goes with the job. It even shows in Tony Blair's face. He'll have to settle accounts with the royal family, and also with Parliament.

Bush himself looks disappointed in the reception he got. At no point was he allowed to feel genuinely welcome. I think Bush deserves better advisors, just for the fact that he is the President. This trip undermines him in numerous ways.

The one "winner" as I see it, is simple-minded Laura. She managed to see the royal family as the stodgy old farts they are. Her smile is a bit manic, but she doesn't look like she's overly impressed.

Too bad that Dumbya couldn't find the streets. They're more elusive than Osama, Saddam, and WMDs.

Damn those streets.
