Wondering "Why Turkey?" Here's a possible reason
"Defense trade ranks Israel number three in weapons exports, as value of contracts skyrockets from $2.6 billion to $4.1 billion in one year, on growing sales to Turkey and India."

2. I think there are other reasons as well
I don't think this was an attack on Turkey. This was an attack on Western society. They bombed two synogogues and now a commericial bank and the British consulate. This is an attack on Western power due to the inflamed passions in the region.

7. yes
And now any western businesses will be hesitant to invest in Turkey in the near future. Why open a bank, manufacturing center, etc if you may be bombed?

10. Good Question
And it just shows how difficult taking down these extremist groups will be. We should be setting up global networks to take down these guys, but we are not. Instead, we bomb some country in the Middle East that has nothing to do with terrorism and in fact would aggresively stomp out radical Islam.

5. IMHO because of ties to the western world and
because they could do it there during the Bush visit to the UK. I mean it was certain that they'd try something during the visit and Turkey was probably the easiest target.

6. Turkey:
A very large mountainous country.
About 66 millions people.
Is located on the oil path.
Is located on the path of water towards the ME.
Geo-politically essential to Europe.
Tactically indispensable in case of conflagration in the ME.
Muslim at 90%.
Has shown a few signs of instability.
Has been "europeanized" rather recently.

This makes it the ideal fuse for whoever is looking for a major explosion.

9. "Turkey" wasn't attacked
Western interests that happened to be in Turkey were attacked. It's clear that the game is now attack Westerners who are most exposed - Red Cross workers, worshipers, etc. It doesn't matter where they are exactly.
