Wolf Blitzer:"but how long of a process is the country about to endure..?"
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0311/20/wbr.00.html

A little more than half way down the page here

BLITZER: The January 9 arraignment also could set the stage, obviously, for a preliminary hearing and then a trial way down the road.

How long of a process, under normal circumstances -- and these are far from normal circumstances, Jeffrey -- but how long of a process is the country about to endure, waiting and watching the Michael Jackson trial to go forward?

TOOBIN: Well, to answer your question directly, I think we're talking about -- it would be a surprise to me, given what I know about the California legal system -- if the trial were over a year from today.

___________________________________________________________________________

Gee Wolf why would we have to endure this?
You obviously skipped a step there and presumed that this story (nothing is actually going to happen until Jan.9th) needs to swallow up so much coverage. I understand that Wolf is helpless here, it's not like he has ANY control over what is on his show, CNN, or any of the networks. :eyes:

I like Toobin and I understand that he is on their to answer what Wolf asks him but I was SCREAMING just what I posted above at the TV.

2. I can't stand Jack Cafferty
but he was going off this morning about the ridiculous amount of coverage of this thing, including on his own network.

Hey, Wolfie, how long with the country have to endure having their kids come home dead from Iraq?

7. Times 100
but with some e-mails (Hey something stopped the hours of coverage of the Robert Blake trial) perhaps we can stop this.

5. The e-mail I sent to Wolf.
I was amazed yesterday when you asked Jeffrey Toobin:
"..but how long of a process is the country about to endure, the waiting and watching for the Micheal Jackson trial to go forward?"

Why do you presume we should have to "endure" this? Do you have no control over what is on your show and on CNN in general?

The prelim hearing isn't unitl January 9th of next year, in the meantime why not focus coverage on the real and important issues?

The war in Iraq and the casualties President Bush created with lies and misinformation.
The economy.
Afghanistan and the rest of the ACTUAL "war on terror". Remember Afghanistan?
Medicare reform.

Just to name a few.

10. "Endure" is the correct word
It's just not meant how Wolf (his name is Wolf) meant it. It will be extremely painfull and irritation for those of us who care about real news to endure the media frenzy over the pop star gone wrong. It's going to be horrible. There wasn't as much cable news competition during OJ. This is going to be OJ coverage times 5. The media is this country is sick, and this yet again proves it. I don't think there's a conservative bias, there's just a stupid bias. And this is going to get ugly.

13. I can endure not giving a SHIT; what I can't "endure"
...will be the unrelenting, vacuous, pointless, insipid, spiritually exhausting, morally numbing

press coverage

of this thoroughly meaningless and trivial event.
