Wawayanda – The third time was the charm.
Lifted by widespread anger about skyrocketing property taxes, Wayne Skinner defeated Supervisor Tom DeBlock by 28 votes, 836-808.
Skinner's victory on his third run for supervisor lifts a Democrat into the rapidly growing town's top office for the first time in more than a decade.
Gail Soro, a Democrat, will join Skinner on the board. Republican Edward Krajewski won the other open seat. The results were delayed until absentee ballots were counted yesterday.
