will anything less than "revolution" bring us back?
what we lost:

our government - the people are secondary to the needs of industry. the poor, endangered species, workers, children, have no lobbiest.

the press - controlled news all the time makes for happy shoppers. and advertisers call all the shots. again industry over people.

respect - the entire planet is against our internationalism or they go along out of fear. fear is not respect.

freedom - police state forces objectors into controlled areas.

culture - when we trash the constitution and the bill of rights we have lost the only bit of culture we had.

environment - industry convinces populace that a protected environment is not good. selfish desires win, but environment looses.

humanity - blood lust for perceived enemies.

safety - violent crimes are the highest per capita than anywhere else.

so how do we turn this confusion into a decent nation? will everyone come to enlightenment together? will industry (not a being) realize it's mistakes? there is left but 1 answer. "revolution"

not "revolution"
but Revolution

even the term revolution has become diluted, co-opted to describe fashion trends.

We still have options. Remember we tend to see things in the worst light here and that is not necessarily what they really are.

Violence is the end game. if we go there we loose period.

ain't gonna do shit. People have already shown that they are not willing to do anything.

If you were to step back to previous revolutions you would find that people went to war for far far less.

What happened to the days where if you called someone a lyer you went for a duel?

you are reading my mind, and that's o.k. no revolution is possible without misery. we are the least "miserable" people on the planet. our internationalism insures us to be well fed, undereducated, and distracted by everything that money can buy. this is costing the rest of the world dearly. what happens when the revolution comes from outside our borders? maybe some would call this war. not me. they are greatly affected by washington policy, and perhaps even more than us.

4. I'm for passive resistance.
I think the young people should get together in communes like in the sixties and grow your own food, live off the grid and do very little commerce other than selling jams, produces and handicrafts from roadside stands. There's is plenty of rural farmland still available to do this.

Once you have a basic livlihood, then you can start forming cooperative style companies to replace the ones that have taken over our lives and governments. As the movement grows so will your ability to make real change and take back the country.

Or am I living in fantasy land?

7. Thirty years ago the communes went astray because

of the drugs, sex and rock and roll aspect of them. Also, the counter revolution basically had worked, ending the Vietnam war and other reforms so many of the commune dwellers went back to mainstream lives. A few still are in existence out in rural places, but most of the residents have aged and new members haven't joined up. Of course there are the religious communities like the Amish who live these kind of lives, but I don't think most Americans want to live that way.

I don't feel this is a permanent solution but it would energize groups of people to effect change. It also hurts any government when there aren't a lot of taxes to collect. Gee, they might have to take back all those tax cuts that wealthy Republicans got to pay the bills.

14. Oh yes, quite a few still around -- and some quite learned
But in general the mass media continues to portray all the wholesome pioneering initiatives from the 60s (such as organic farming, solar and wind power, and so forth) as the lunatic fringe. Actually, these kinds of initiatives are as they have always been: building blocks to a sustainable and just society.

5. here is a Revolutionary thought
We are in the midst of one

It is the same type of Revolution as the Second American
Revolution (1800), that is why it is not being televised

But if yuo listen to what many are talking about from
General Clark, to Moore, to Dennis Kucinich, to Dean... they are
now saying what we are saying.

But the press is NOT covering this, as reporting on this would
not work in their favor

Now to the credit of ABC News and the Disneyland Corporation, they
are starting to skirt aroudn the edges of REAL reporting...

So encourage them, as they may start televising the
Revolution.

16. Free the Public Airwaves
There’s a hole in your head. But don’t worry . . .
Underneath the mega media mergers a grassroots movement has taken root. Some people call it “mental environmentalism,” or “media democracy,” but whatever you call it, the push to put democracy back into the media is about to surface. Two catalytic events – in Madison, Wisconsin, and Geneva, Switzerland – represent the initial salvos in this emerging battle. And Adbusters will be there, holding the Media Carta. We want access to our airwaves, and a new human right enshrined: the Right to Communicate.

My husband was pulled over for NO reason yesterday. The officer, after checking my husband's registration and insurance, said that he thought my husband wasn't wearing his seatbelt. Something has to give. We are losing all of our rights and if something doesn't change soon, I fear for our future.

Why are you even on this thread if you're just here to bash every post that comes up. It's not the point that my husband was pulled over that bothers me (Black people get used to it after so many times). The excuse he used and the fact that something as simple as a seatbelt is enough of an excuse is bothersome. Where did you read in my post that I said Bush* or Rove or anyone other person (other than the cop) had anything to do with my husband being pulled over?

17. Already had one
We've lived through a silent revolution. Here's what has happened:

A man was appointed President by a small group of powerful people led by those appointed by the man's father. This happened after thousands and thousands of votes were not counted. There was little protest.

Our governing bodies have been taken over by a relatively small but very wealthy group of powerful people who control the largest industries. Most legislation is written or overseen by this group.

A once vibrant media industry with thousands of independant newspapers, radio stations, and other outlets has been largely silenced. The vast majority of media outlets are now controlled by 10-15 corporations.

The people have lost control of their medical care. They live in fear of losing coverage. Many cannot afford coverage. Their doctors must answer to insurance specialists.

Those who disagree with the policies of the rulers may be branded as traitors.

Our environment grows more polluted by the day. Our government ignores the problems and blocks enforcement of laws and policies put in place over the past 30 years to protect the citizens.

The people have been brainwashed by the above mentioned media and are more interested in the trials and tribulations of entertainers than in the policies of their government.

Well I could go on and on.

A New Revolution is needed but it will not come easily or without pain.

we need to shut them down. Pull their power, disable their satellites, whatever it takes.

They are the true enemy, they are the enemy of the truth. They are the traitors, the ones who have lied and have abdicated their responsibility to be one of the pillars of our civilization.

They need to be overthrown and go down in flames.

They are eyeball deep in TREASON. 3 hours on Michael Jackson while heads are being busted by police provocateurs in Miami, hundreds of thousands are on the streets in London and bombs are blowing up hither, thither and yon... IT'S FUCKING TREASON. The media must be SHUT DOWN.

This is exactly what the Free Republic clowns were saying during the Clinton years.

Anybody heard of an election? And don't give me that conspiratorial BBV crap. For that to be real, Democrats all across the country in office at every level of government would have to go along and keep quiet. Not to mention that Diebold and others would be risking the most serious legal charges a company could ever face.

Let's campaign for our candidates and WIN AN ELECTION instead of talking about a "Revolution"....surely this board has more than 18 and 19 year old kids. It IS a Friday night though.

You called me a "racist" against white people. Calling names is against DU rules, but I asked that your post remain because I thought it revealed more about you than you cared to let on.

Tonight you are posting from Drudge, calling the DU a "Tinfoil Convention" and "Kids" and even "fruitcakes" (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=753051#755601)

55. Talk like yours gives DU a wacky, fruitcake image...
...if you still believe elections are won fair and square.

60. Anybody heard of an election?
What did you hear about the election in 2000?
Are you aware of what happened in Volusia County?

* would not have needed to go to the SC if that -16022 for Gore had gone unnoticed.

Do you really believe that * "won" by 537 votes?

Do you know anything at all about the FACT that 62 counties in the state of Florida certified totals that differ in their aggregate sum than the totals certified for those same counties by the DOE?

Is it at all possible that one or more of those old "Reagan democrats" had positions that allowed them to collude with Katherine Harris?

35. What's your take on the 2nd amendment?
Has it changed since Boxer and Schumer attacked it?

59. an act of god...
despite the fact many of us dont believe in him I'm sure there is still some really infinately small chance that all of people who are wrong for our country would just all drop dead.

62. No.
And No again!

However, the old format of armed insurrection is outdated and perhaps unnecessary.

The entire reality that the present ruling power depends on is really rather fragile.

The media is dependent on this fragile thing.
The military is dependent on this fragile thing.
The money game is dependent on this fragile thing.

To utterly cripple this thing, no death or widespread destruction is required.

In the event the fragile thing was crippled, there may exist a chance for a different future than the one currently being rammed down the world's collective throat.

64. Not yet, but soon perhaps
Not until after 2004 should something so drastic happen.

And one thing to make clear: It's the corporate sect we're after as they are doing 90% of the damage. Without them, the repukes (the other 10%) become powerless. Corporations are NOT the American government. They just need to be reminded of that.

Besides, if not revolution, we can always sit back and watch these fuckers destroy themselves. While we'll die in the end, we'll have the satisfaction of knowing they will too. No amount of $$$ will save their fat, greedy, and equally worthless lives.

65. I hope that we can do better than just getting back to pre-2000.
"our government - the people are secondary to the needs of industry. the poor, endangered species, workers, children, have no lobbiest."

Same as it ever was.

"the press - controlled news all the time makes for happy shoppers. and advertisers call all the shots. again industry over people."

The "Media" has always had it's ups and downs. Basically though our National Media has almost always been "Industry over People".

"respect - the entire planet is against our internationalism or they go along out of fear. fear is not respect."

I suppose we could get back to only half of the World's contempt.

"freedom - police state forces objectors into controlled areas."

Once again the US has had periods in it's history that were as bad as today in regard to the 1st Amendment. The Sedition Act was a doozy.

"culture - when we trash the constitution and the bill of rights we have lost the only bit of culture we had."

Oh come on now! We've got a great Consumer culture:-)

"environment - industry convinces populace that a protected environment is not good. selfish desires win, but environment looses."

We should have been learned our lesson in the 70's but apparently gas lines weren't enough to open our eyes.

"humanity - blood lust for perceived enemies."

Allende the Contras and so on. We've bee a Militaristic, under a Liberal Democratic mask, since at least that nifty foray into the Phillipenes.

safety - violent crimes are the highest per capita than anywhere else.

Answer to your question? Maybe:-)
