Dean gets Public Employees Federation endorsement
November 21, 2003, 3:39 PM EST

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Howard Dean's presidential campaign picked up the endorsement Friday of New York's 52,000-member Public Employees Federation union that represents many white-collar state workers.

The former Vermont governor had earlier won the endorsement of the 265,000-member Civil Service Employees Association that represents many of the state's blue-collar workers.

<snip>

"We don't want to be on the sidelines," said PEF Vice President Ken Brynien in announcing the Dean endorsement.

Calling Dean a "strong friend of labor" when he was Vermont governor, Brynien said the former governor's proposals to improve working conditions for nurses _ including such things as banning mandatory overtime _ was a key factor in the endorsement decision by the union's executive board. PEF represents more than 8,000 nurses.

11. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
At least the unions are doing what the majority of their members want. It's not just union executives making all the decissions. Unlike our Democratic members of the Senate who vote the opposite of what the majority of democrats want.
