Doris Kearns Goodwin slams George McGovern on Meet the Press

On a broadcast tonight (November 30, 2003) of Meet the Press, Doris Kearns Goodwin said "Dean won't come out against fighting terrorists because then he really would look like George McGovern."

George McGovern isn't against fighting terrorists.

McGovern is a World War II hero who realized by 1968 that the Vietnam War was wrong, which most Americans now realize.

(He ran for the nomination in 1968 which went to Hubert Humphray, and then got the nomination in 1972).

1. Cheap shots never stop

Amazing how 30 years later McGovern still has to hear this crap.

Here was a genuine war hero, served his country, was a good, decent man. Had the guts to come out against the Vietnam War. Had he been elected many soldiers would've have their lives saved.

Yet he was lambasted. Called a commie-sympathizer. Yet he was right.

some of her remarks....She is not actually impartial in her judgment...

Actually, I consider the plagiarism charges bogus.

She footnoted the original source for every sentence similar to the original.

This is out of hundreds of pages.

There is no punctuation to indicate almost-a-quote-but-not-a-quote.

I don't consider her a plagiarist.
