18. Bill Press just elected Dean - We can all go home.
No need for any primaries. Bill Press has taken care of it for us. :eyes:

"I believe Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the first female President. She will not run in 2004. She will run in 2008 unless President Howard Dean decides to run for a second term." - Bill Press

21. Maybe
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 10:24 AM by Jim4Wes
it wasn't a bad thing for the show to bite the dust. Actually, I think I am not the only one who noticed Bill's cheerleading for Dean over the last 2 months or so. And I know I'll get flamed... but seemed he made a concerted effort to downplay some candidates as well.

Of course as a pundit maybe that is not out-of-line...opinions?

25. Bill can't help but be a partisan. Both for the Dems AND for Dean
He can't help himself. We have enough cheerleaders for Dean from the right, however, so maybe it's just as well - much as I love him. You think he would have bent over backwards to be fair after he saw how the media "crowns" various candidates in each and every election (Gore comes to mind).

7. Listening to Pat
talking about the neo-Cons and the war in Iraq, it's quite apparent why the took away his show.

11. Didn't they cancel Donahue
when he was their highest-rated show as well?

To me they've made a decision that feeding the war machine is more profitable for their conglomerate's bottom line. A higher-rated show on cable, which only has a limited viewing audience anyway, is only going to generate so much ad revenue.

However, think how much money G.E. stands to make off continued military action? As always, follow the money.

12. They were cancelled because the election is coming up
and they:

1. Need MORE conservatives on (ONE Liberal is too many )
2. Press speaks his mind..

Look for Buchanan to come back as a solo in a few months.. or he will be paired with another winger.. Think Ollie North or G Gordon Lilly..

15. I don't think they'll bring Buchanan back
He doesn't ascribe to the neocon party line. He's been too outspoken on the war and trade policies. In their minds, I'm sure BOTH Buchanan and Press were their enemies.

22. is that broadly popular show
Scarborough (the republican condit- but without the press) still on the air? :eyes: Read that its ratings were consistently lower than that which it replaced - Donahue... but it has stayed on the air (unless that has recently been remedied.)

...said that Bush's* response to 9-11 was his 'finest hour'. What kind of revisionism is this? Bush* 'responded' to 9-11 by doing...nothing.

What else has he done? He has done nothing that could be considered a fine moment so we get his megaphone moment.

19. How many have
written in to complain to MSNBC? Bill and Pat didn't win the time slot in the ratings, but their show was good. Write in to ask them to move it to an earlier slot.

20. MSNBC is run by idiots
Hardball on at 9 was the only thing I watched anymore. I can't do it at 7. They're riding on Countdown/Scrborough and some trash in between. Worst lineup going.

23. Idiots, Indeed!
The brainiacs who run this outfit thought that it would be a good idea to move ideologically right, because of Faux News' success. The problem is, with Faux's miniscule ratings (in the absolute sense), MSNBC's braintrust was going to war on Faux's turf.

They had already garnered the far right nutjob audience and the brand loyalty had taken hold. To compete for that audience is idiotic business planning.

Everyone of those from the Director level on up should be fired by GE for costing them advertising dollars and keeping the ratings low.

24. If only 1% of conservatives believe like Buchanan....
Then Bush may be in trouble with his Party. Unlike the Democrats, the Republicans cannot be competitive if they lose 1 or 2% of their voters...
