Clark/Dean, Dean/Clark Unity Thread
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 10:40 PM by Zynx
This is a thread to express support for these two fine candidates and others if you choose and you may only say positive things about the candidates. We need the good will that this forum used to have.

I know I have made my fair share of negative statements about Clark recently, but those were because I was in a bad mood and a fierce debate made me lose my temper. I didn't mean the things I said. I am sorry.

I would gladly support and bleed for either man to beat Bush. Who's with me?

1. I like Dean.
I don't have a problem with Clark. If either of them takes the White House, it will be a cause for jubilation within my home.

5. I like Dean fine
I just defend my candidate fiercely. However, I don't have a problem with Howard Dean (except in the debate when he put Clark as one who supported giving Bush his blank check on Iraq, but that's politics). Peace to all who oppose bush and co.

10. I like them both
I have a draft age son who I think can benefit more by a Clark nomination but I think that Clark's experience will help on the bottom of a ticket also. Dean has good qualities though I don't know them as well because I have concetrated on Clark. Will work my tail off for both men no matter who is on top. Thanks for the thread, this is the last thing that Rove wants to see going on here.

I'm glad to see that both Dean and Clark people are saying positive things
for a change. This is greatly welcome.

We have in Clark a man with the experience and skill to lead this country. We have in Dean a man with the fire and passion to excite voters. The both share many positive traits such as charisma and forthrightness(I hope I didn't make up a word there) that we need.

We're lucky to have those two<1> smart, outspoken, brave, dedicated candidates who have done a lot for this country as our options. I wish the choices in the general election were as good

<1> the statement should not be construed to say that others do not deserve this label.

We'll see both their names on one ticket. I am still undecided as to which of these fine Democrats will get my vote, but I would be proud to acknowledge either as my President. I cannot wait for the day, my friends. It's been a LONG four years.

14. I LOVE the fact that DEAN TOOK THE LEAD with GAY RIGHTS
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 11:00 PM by xultar
in his state as Govenor! That means a lot to me cuz I have gay friends that are like family to me. I wanna make sure that they are taken care of and can take care of each other in times of crisis.

I wouldn't like wanna date Dean though. He isn't my type. He isn't all that hot. I'd love a hook-up with Clark or Edwards. They are both married so that means they are both out of the question. Kucinich, isn't my type, he isn't all that hot but he is single. In my book he's on the list.

Sharpton, PUHLEEZ GOD couldn't get me to do that. NO WAY JOSE! Not even Joseph, Mary, Jesus, the 3 wise men, Santa, Mrs. Santa, Rudolph, Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, 5 golden rings, 4 calling birds, 3 french hens, 2 calling birds, or Danny Bonaducci.

33. As long as you are aware that the VP thingy is off the table...
BLITZER: When I recently interviewed Howard Dean, he said he was still considering you, as one of his formidable candidates, to serve as his running mate. Would you agree to serve as Howard Dean's running mate?

CLARK: No, I don't see that in the cards. I think the issue for this election is who should be the commander in chief and who is the right person to face George W. Bush. And that's what the Democratic electorate has to decide on. I like Howard Dean. I think he's done a fine job. I like his spirit. But, you know, Wolf, the days are passed when the Democratic Party can nominate a candidate in a time of war to go against a sitting president who is the commander in chief, who can say he's been there and done it.

You can't put someone against the commander in chief and win who hasn't been there and done it, in terms of foreign affairs. So for me, it's about being the commander in chief, and that's why I'm running.

BLITZER: Would you consider Howard Dean for your running mate?

CLARK: Certainly, I would consider Howard Dean for my running mate.

34. I used to feel warm and fuzzy, posted here about it, but...
I felt very good when Clarkies and Deanies joined in a "Down with Bush" chant back in September in NYC. I posted here and no one even noticed my post.
The other day I was collecting ballot signatures for Clark in the cold and a couple of deanies badgered me FOR AN HOUR "What? Clark is not on the ballot in NY?" "He has trouble getting on the ballot in NY?" "Are you being paid to do that?"
In the end, I pointed to my STOP BUSH button and got them to apologize. But when trolling on our blog or answering us rudely "No way, I'm for dean" when asking for your signature (a "no" will suffice), think of the wonders in outreach you do for your candidate.
Last night, while we were all at meet-ups, our blog was invaded by vicious Deanies who took over until we returned.
I for one never go to other candidates' blogs but was attacked here with obscenities when I posted a hypotetical "How would dean handle the ME peace?" Terms like masturbation abunded.
You certainly kicked ME from the "warm and fuzzy" club.

I support Dean. However, I believe Clark (as well as Edwards, Gephardt, and Kerry) is a good man who will do good things if elected. I will work my heart out for whoever is nominated. Also--I understand why people support Clark. I just disagree. I think it is a reasonable disagreement among people with similar values. All of us sometimes get a little narrow-minded and fail to see the big picture. But I'm confident that we are all in this together and come convention time, we will be able to unite behind one of these fine candidates.

40. I've been saying for months that Dean/Clark was THE ticket to bring down..
The Bush Criminal Empire, and I still believe it will happen, even in spite of the General's recent stated objections.

My only hesitancy with Clark being at the top of the ticket is what the Rove machine will do with the concept of an "inexperienced candidate". They will use the media to play on fears, and even in the best of circumstances, it's unusual for someone with no political experience to walk into the White House.

56. Sorry, the hazards of posting at 6 AM before the caffeine hits the brain..
I forgot to include the part about the strengths Clark brought to the ticket, which is why I chose the combo to begin with. Which, of course is his military and foreign affairs experience - areas that Dean is not experienced in.

The two complement each other, and cancel out the obvious attack points that Rove and the Bushmedia would use if either one ran alone.

And might I add that the General did a hell of a job against the FAUX news robot last week.

The people I created this thread for, in other words the people who are most vicious and vocal, have not shown up. Xultar and Scott Lee support Clark and Dean fiercely respectively, but they are about the only ones who somewhat engage in the fierce personal and petty combat I want to stop. I really want people like _Jumper_, Eloriel, Closer, and Frenchie4Clark to show up here and make statements of unity.

Don't get me wrong though, those who have posted here I am eternally greatful for, but I want some of the bitter enders to do it too.

As in:
Commenting on Wesley Clark's possible candidacy in an

50. I'm most grateful you rang!
I will want unity as well.

I have always, always, always advocated for my candidate, Wes Clark. I have defended him from the most vile of accusations. I, for the most part am a poster of links, and facts. I remember posting Clark's actual speech at least 50 times among many other items. That's what I do best. I do not bait others into dogging me, and Am not interested in attacking anyone, ever. However, when I'm in the kitchen, and the fire starts burning, I will not get out, and I will not back down. Maybe French = arrogant, not doubt. I believe that many here were taken by surprise that Clarkies are just as determined, articulate and intelligent as any other candidates' supporters. We will not run away, we will not shy away.

I have started threads before in reference to Dean...but only threads that were relevant to an issue that needed to be debated...such as media bias, PNAC, stuff like that. I am effective and I think that some resent that. But that is what I am here to do; to point out the obvious.

After the primary I will unite with all ABB advocates, and I hope to be a welcome ally in that endeavor.

I just want those that I may have offended to know, I apologize, as that was not my priority. They should also know that none (offense) was intended, and none was taken.
Peace Out!

But I must admit I like to hear what all the candidates have to say and follow the debates.

I know the candidates have to keep knocking at each other now, but it is so very important that they not let George feel he's being left out of the whallop-fest. He's such a sensitive boy.
