Hi folks! My first article in a while!

Some of you may know that I've been away from writing for about 6 months as I and my lovely ex-wife Zsu Zsu dealt with a personal crisis. Everything is OK now. I present the following article, a day before Zsu Zsu can put it up on my website, as an homage to DU and all of its members. Even those who think I'm a complete wack job I have respect for. Even those Conservative Dems who've bought the whole War On Terror myth I can't feel emnity towards.

After all, at least they've chosen the lesser of the two evils.
And it is worth noting that not ONCE have I ever experienced an attempt to muzzle my point of view here at DU. Thank you all for yopur forebearance.

So bear with me, as this first effort after six months of unenforced writer's block may be a tad clumsy and uneloquent. Thanks anyway.

A Winter Of Discontent

If you are like me you have long ago determined that the people of the United States of America are being manipulated and coerced, through a combined effort of the Corporate/Military/Industrial/Media complex, into accepting perpetual war and the loss of their civil liberties.

The shock and horror of 9-11 was the first discernible blow (though, of course, many of us believe that the Coup has been in development since the end of WW II), and the Powers That Be have made sure to keep the American people terrified with manufactured terror both domestic and abroad in order to capitalize on their fear.

Please be aware that this modus operandi of justifying invasions of sovereign countries and cracking down on domestic opposition was proposed many years ago when John F Kennedy was President and the crisis over Cuba was just as much of a threat to national security as the so called War on Terror is today.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff at that time drew up and approved a plan called “Operation Northwoods”. This only came to light a few months after 9-11 when James Bamford released a book entitled “Body of Secrets” in which the details of this brutal scheme were revealed. According to the secret and long-suppressed documents Bamford uncovered, the Joint Chiefs proposed launching a war of terror on their own populace in order to manipulate them into supporting a war against Cuba. Naturally, they also intended on falsely pinning the terrorism on Castro’s Communists.

Apparently, Kennedy refused to sign on to this ignoble and corrupt plan. This episode may have been the final straw for Kennedy, who had already suffered much because of the CIA’s incompetence and idiocy. Kennedy may have then attempted, through secret channels, to make peace with Castro. One could speculate that perhaps this is what convinced the military leadership to turn against him and tacitly aid Kennedy’s assassination.

Unfortunately, the current President, Dubya, is no Jack Kennedy. If Bush received a similar proposal just after he took office would he have approved it? We know that he is a sock puppet of the militaristic, neo-conservative elite. Bush has even spoken at the American Enterprise Institute and basically endorsed their Project for the New American Century. If I were a betting man, I’d wager Bush was ready to sign in a heartbeat. His beloved lucky “trifecta” was thus inevitable.

It’s long past time for people to start waking up. There are just too many obvious parallels between what was proposed then and what is happening now.

Of course, this modern version of “Operation Northwoods” is a much more expansive and coordinated one. The size and scope of this plan is incredible and I can’t fault those who simply can’t comprehend how they could pull it off. I agree, it is a massive undertaking. But when you are dealing with an “ends justify the means” ideology and the individuals espousing that ideology have at their disposal the greatest military machine ever and a secret, unaccountable Black Ops agency, well then maybe you should open your mind to the possibility.

The fact that we just passed the 40th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, and that the modern day Keane Commission seems destined to repeat a cover up ala the Warren Commission, has not gone unnoticed. There can be no doubt that the Bush White House is stonewalling the enquiry regarding the Saudi connection to 9-11. So the recent decision to allow the Bushies to EDIT the information on private briefings, information the commission was seeking for months, before turning it over smells like collusion. Even more ominous is the quiet way they managed to get the feisty Max Cleland to quit the panel investigating 9-11. He was causing trouble, and it sure seems like he’s been muzzled.

Consider this. The Media is reporting that “Al Qaeda” is up to something big. General Tommy Franks, the war hero/criminal who led Centcom during the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, recently made a very troubling assertion during an interview with “Cigar Afficionado” magazine. Franks plainly said that one successful attack using weapons of mass destruction on American soil could result in the abandonment of the U.S. constitution and the installation of a military police state ruling via martial law.

Now consider this. Vice President Dick Cheney and Homeland Security czar Tom Ridge are on record as saying that the next wave of attacks are “inevitable” and “a matter of when, not if”.

I submit that if George W Bush’s poll numbers keep slipping and it becomes apparent that even fixed voting machines can’t guarantee his incumbency, another terrorist attack will occur - timed to ensure the current leadership retains power. Besides, truth has a way of trickling through to the people. How long can they keep the cover up going in a free society? One 9-11 widow is suing the Bush Administration and you would have to think that eventually the mainstream Media will report on it.

I suspect that they have their eyes set on somewhere in California as the next site for the next attack. There might just be a real good reason that Arnold Schwarzenegger was maneuvered into the Governorship. Perhaps he is viewed as the perfect candidate to be their West Coast Rudy Giuliani. After all, the greatest perceived threat to the current Administration is the “Left Coast Liberal Establishment”. An attack on the West Coast would be poetic justice to the twisted minds running the neo-conservative agenda.

This coming winter will be one of trepidation and unease for many of us who are waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Be afraid, be very afraid. Just be aware of whom you should fear.

The last six months have given all of us "pundits" enough ammunition to last for awhile.

even Ray McGovern - ex CIA officer - said that the office of special plans (OSP) was a clear and presant danger to the american people.

because that is exactly what they want us to be. Yes, there will be another terrorist attack and yes the sun will come up tommorrow. W and the GOP are the party of fear. We need to be the party of hope, otherwise you are playing right into their hands.

The BFEE is manipulating the populace into believing the EVILDOERS are the CIA created Islamic Terror network. They want them to live in fear of brown skinned others who are less than human and that the great and strong Bush will fight them to the last national guardsmen.

The people have to learn WHOM it is they should ACTUALLY fear.

who the real evildoers are but rather than learning who to fear, they need to learn to overcome their fear and take responsiblity to do something to end this tyranny.

knowing what we are up against is the best way to plot a successful course around them.

misdirected fear is the only fear that plays into their hands.

of course being paralized by fear is another story but that isn't the point of this eassy remember you can be fearful and brave at the same time, combat vets know all about it.

think alike, I have been concerned about California since we were told earlier in the year that N. Korea has nukes aimed at them that could take out the entire nothern part of the state. The current "flu" warnings are also rather scary, particularly coupled with the fact that research scientists in the UK actually exumed bodies in order to "study" the 1918 Spanish flu. The repeated warnings of a terrorist attack involving biological warfare is plenty wierd as well.

Horrible times in which we live, let us all continue to work for a better tomorrow.
