I was afraid of that. I guess only AOL members can participate.

I'm still upset that Disney got to buy WEVD three years ago.

For those that don't know of WEVD it was started as a Jewish radio station in the early 1900's. EVD stands for 'Eugene V. Debbs.' It was originally broadcast in Yiddish. It was owned by the Forward Newspaper.

Anyway, 3 yrs ago it was a profitable talk radio station that had liberal views. The Forward wanted to sell it to subsidize the newspaper that loses money. Personally, I'd dump the paper instead of the radio station - but it's their call.

Suddenly, the announced that Disney was buying the station for $40M and going to turn it into a sports station.

Geez, I could have gotten together enough people to raise $40M to have a liberal talk radio station.

A lost opportunity.

by similar positions a few years back....all the indy stations just figured they could NOT compete with the large corps. Welcome to DU :hi:
